WEST THREE

By CONRAD SUTCLIFFE

BRIDESTOWE continued their winning run in West Three with a 129-run win at Tavistock.

Bridestowe got off to a solid start through Gary Sizmur (72) and Tom Pengelly (17).

Middle-order runs came at a good rate through Tallan Burns (29) and James Ewen (37), who pushed the visitors' score close to 200.

Late wickets fell to spinner Ben Evans (4-41) and Lockie Fulton (2-38) to drag Tavy back into the game.

Some lusty blows from Chris Marais (18) got Bridestowe to 229 for nine from their 40 overs.

Burns (1-26) struck in his first over to remove Evans and Gary Sizmur (1-12) dismissed the dangerous Will Scott-Munden (17).

Spinners Pengelly (3-41) and Callum Mallet (3-11) kept the pressure on and Tavy always looked behind the run rate.

Two run-outs from Eddy Jones and some sharp stumpings from Pat Ewen didn't help matters for Tavistock.

Ryan Burke (25) and Richard Edlmann (23) both got starts, but there wasn't much else in Tavi's total of 100 all out.

HATHERLEIGH stormed to a 158-run win in a one-sided affair at Lewdown in West Three.

Zak Spears hit 52 and Ryan Quick weighed in with 45 as Hatherleigh cruised to 224 for eight.

The Williams brothers – Jack (3-28) and skipper Harry (2-28) – took the bowling plaudits for Lewdown.

Nick Smith (3-7) and Tom Strawbridge (2-6) were Hatherleigh’s main wicket takers as the home side were skittled out for 66. Harry Williams (28) made the only notable impression in the runs-scored column.

Hatherleigh are at home to Bridestowe this Saturday.
