SAMPFORD Peverell & Tiverton confirmed themselves as East East Two champions when they defeated Chardstock by four wickets.

Rob Hutchings stroked 18 fours and two sixes on his way to 111 off 98 balls in Chardstock’s total of 207 all out.

Joe Parkinson (3-31) shaded the bowling honours for SP&T from Rob Venn (2-30).

Will Bucknell went in at 59 for two for SP&T following the departure of dad Guy for (24).

Bucknell was still there at the finish unbeaten on 61. Lee Hooper (29), Sammy Broomhead (20) and Lewiis Hough (31) all batted around Bucknell.

Skipper Parkinson attributed SP&T’s success this season to their ‘never-give-up attitude’ when in ‘sticky spots’

The next test for Parkinson & Co is a home game with Yelverton in the Tier Four play-offs.

KENTISBEARE squeaked home by four wickets with two balls to spare in the derby clash with Clyst Hydon.

Openers Keith Herselman (50) and Ian Sutton (28), backed-up by Graham Trude (49) helped Hydon reach 219 for seven in 35 overs.

Kents’ batting was solid from start to finish. Harvey Sanders (33) and Paul Tatterton (27) made early runs, Scott Chappell (23) and Martyn Howe (23) kept things moving then Jed Finlay (62no) and Cam Dennis (30) wrapped up the win.
