FRASER Cowan played the anchorman role for Plymstock 2nd XI with a match-winning 94 in a three-wicket win over Plympton 2nd XI.

Cowan went in at 18 for two and by the time he was dismissed the target was three to win. Bits and pieces – Marc Woodward (11), Rob Cunningham (13) – kept the board ticking over from both ends.

Matt Draper (2-19) took the bowling honours for Plympton.

Cornwood reached 166 for nine in their 40 overs and were glad of a guest player for a sizeable slice of their runs.

Although Noah Tobias is registered for Abbotskerswell he has not played a Saturday game this season and was able to accept Plympton’s invitation to guest for them. He top scored with 71 that rescued Plympton from a troubled 60 for six.

Wickets were shared with three for Ian Whalley (3-55) and two each for Cowan (2-15) and Rob Cunningham (2-22).

YELVERTON Bohemians go forward from West Two into the play-offs even though their programme has been decimated by bad weather.

Saturday’s game against Whitchurch Wayfarers was the fourth of six fixtured games called off due to bad weather.
