BEN Privett and Elliot Hamilton both wrote half-centuries in the scorebook as Plympton raced to an eight-wicket win over Seaton.

Seaton are finding life hard back in the A Division after an absence of more than a decade and were largely second best against at Plympton side that’s not been beaten this season.

Take out a watchful 30 scored by opener Matt Hewer, and a solid 33 in the middle order from Daley Holmes, and there was not a lot to enthuse about in Seaton’s top-half batting.

Damian Baxter (21) and captain Ben Morgan (17) hoisted 47 for the eighth wicket, which stopped Seaton imploding after three wickets had fallen for nine runs scored.

Two bowlers who impressed for Plympton were Ernest Masuku (4-30) and Josiah Caunter (3-26). None of the seven bowlers used by skipper Alex Carr went for more than four an over.

“All our bowlers hit some very good areas on a fairly flat wicket, which made it hard for Seaton to make any headway,” said Carr.

“It was great to see Ernest bowling some high-quality spells and Josiah Caunter yet again bowled brilliantly through the middle.”

Privett (64) and Hamilton (52) cruised to 101 together before Joe Berry split them up.

By the time Hamilton was second out the target was down to 31 to win, which Harry Kandampully (23no) and Justin Wubbeling (17no) knocked off without mishap.

Said Carr: “Ben and Elliot batted really positively which was great to see. It just broke the back of the chase early, which made it comfortable for the guys coming in.”

Plympton now sit third in the table, two points behind North Devon and seven behind leaders Bradninch.
