EXETER moved within three points of second-placed Torquay in the A Division table after routing Seaton by 241 runs.

Seaton, winless and already 40 points adrift at the bottom of the table, were always aiming for damage control at best against the city side.

Exeter got to 152 for three with Mike Wilkinson (24), Tom Richardson (67) and Sam Read (36) all chipping in, then Jehan Daniel tool over.

Daniel larruped 112 off 69 balls – nine fours, seven sixes – as Exeter accelerated to 320 for seven.

Daniel was the last man out on 304 having put on 46 with Richardson and 75 with Joe Gore, whose contribution was 25 not out.

So far this season Daniel has made two league hundreds, a third one in the county T20 competition and is averaging 54.86 in the league.

Ben Morgan (2-47) and Joe Berry (2-52) had Seaton’s most respectable bowling figures from 10-over spells.

Seaton were all out in response for 79 with opener Damian Baxter (18) top scoring. He was the first of three wickets for ex-Somerset 2ndXI player Gore.

Former skipper Morgan (19) was the only other batter to reach double figures. Daniel accounted for him on the way to a four-wicket haul. Nineteen wickets at a fraction above 10 runs each show his value to the team.

Billy Buckingham (2-6) tidied-up at the end.
