PLYMPTON came crashing down to earth after three straight wins when they were bowled out for 76 at Budleigh Salterton and went on to lose by eight wickets.

Only three Plympton batters made it into double figures – Elliot Hamilton (18), Justin Wubbeling (19) and Jonty Walliker (10) –during the 26.2 overs they lasted.

Their difficulties started when Ed Doble took two wickets in two balls – Hamilton then Tino Mutombodzi – and only got worse when Wubbeling fell to Joel Murphy.

Doble finished with five Plympton wickets at a cost of just six runs from nine overs bowled as Plympton plummeted from 61 for four to 76 all out.

Budleigh only needed 19 overs to wipe off the target. Chathura Peiris (17) and Theo Northover (29) were the not-out batters.

"It was always going to be a challenge defending a total that small and Budleigh were able to cruise to victory,” said Plympton's Jonty Walliker.

Defeat drops Plympton from fourth to fifth in the table. Budleigh now occupy fourth place.
