DARTINGTON & Totnes hit rock bottom in the B Division following a two-wicket  defeat by visiting Ottery St Mary.

South Devon were bottom of the table going into the latest round of fixtures, but fared less badly in their defeat by Ivybridge and moved ahead of D&T.

South Afridan Ed Verrall top scored for D&T with 48 in a total of 152 all out. Harry Baxendale was next best on 33.

Pick of the bowlers for Ottery with five for 23 was Matt Reed. Will Harrison took three for 16.

Otery got there after a struggle with Will Gornall (2-35), Chris Cook (2-32) ane baxendale (2-33) all making life hard for them.

Mickey Wilkinson,  the former Torquay all-rounder, top scored for Ottery with 42 and George Biggs made 39.

Dartington & Totnes are away to Tavistock this Saturday.

Rob Crabb, the Ottery captain, said: “It was a poor batting performance by us, but we did enough to limp over the line.

“Losing a wicket first ball did not help.”
