THORVERTON are still looking for their first league win of the season after slipping to a six-wicket defeat at Braunton.

Skipper Graham White is getting increasingly frustrated by Thors’ sluggish start to the season and was to the point after the match.

“Not enough bowling,” was all White said after Thorverton made 224 all out, which Braunton knocked off with four overs to spare.

James Khan (41) steered Thorverton to 94 for three, then David Baldock batted the rest of the way through for 89.

Along the way there were stands of 43 with Adriane Morrison (17) and 37 with Andy Pitt (23).

Callum Mitchell topped the bowling returns for Braunton with three for 29 and there were two wickets each for Alfie Huxtable and Mark Mitchell.

Braunton barely missed a beat chasing down the target, opening up with a stand of 73 between Huxtable (58) and Rob Collier (27). It was just the result they wanted with a derby date against Bideford looming

Former Sandford batsman Neil Bettis took control of the mid-chase with 60 and in partnerships of 38 with Dave Cresswell (29) and 51 with Rob Paterson (23no) polished off the target.

Jake Choules took two for 42 for Thorverton. Adriane Morrison and Jake Crouch were cheap to run with the new ball.

Thorverton make the short trip to Shobrooke Park on Saturday for the mid-Devon derby.
