Salary & Benefits: Voluntary

Closing Date: 27/11/2023

Formal Interview Date: w/c 11th December

The Devon Cricket Foundation is the governing body responsible for the recreational game in the county. Our team of staff and volunteers work to enhance cricket locally and deliver on our belief that it is a game for everyone. We are now entering an exciting stage in our development as we transition into a trust and start to form a new board of Trustees. As such, we are seeking to appoint a Chair to join us at this crucial time and play their part in shaping and delivering positive outcomes for our communities through cricket.

We are proud of our track record of engaging our diverse communities across Devon through cricket, but want to do more to grow the game, pioneer new ways to be more inclusive and representative of our county and create safe and welcoming environments for everyone to enjoy the benefits of cricket.

This is an exciting opportunity for people to join Devon Cricket during a pivotal stage of our evolution as an organisation.

As Chair, you will help to drive, define, and champion the vision, values, and reputation of Devon Cricket, ensuring board-level decisions are firmly rooted in consideration of the environment we operate in, and that they are made in accordance with our long-term ambitions. You will also play an important role in supporting our communities in creative and impactful ways.

To succeed as Chair, you will need to be an experienced and innovative leader, capable of driving progress as Devon Cricket continues to develop and broaden our scope. The successful candidate will share our values and commitment and be equipped with the necessary skills to help take forward our vision and reach our strategic goals. You will be able to demonstrate an understanding of effective contemporary governance relating to cricket and sport, as well as a track record of inclusive, strategic, and inspirational leadership. It is important that as the next Chair you understand the geography Devon Cricket operates in and are keen to be an enthusiastic advocate for us, both within your existing network and in the new relationships you nurture.

Devon Cricket recognises and encourages the benefits of greater board diversity and an inclusive culture. As such, we are keenly looking to build a more representative board and welcome all applications, particularly those from individuals from under-represented ethnic or socio-economic backgrounds, the LGBTQ+ community and those with disabilities.

Previous board experience is not essential, nor is it necessary to be directly involved in cricket, although a willingness to get to know the sport and a commitment to enable our vision is.
