AROUND THE WICKETS IN THE A DIVISION

HATHERLEIGH (6th) v NORTH DEVON (top)

Hatherleigh (Niall Leahy): The last couple weeks have obviously been tough and availability has been a constant challenge. But over the season the number of different players we have had step up and make contributions has been great to see.

North Devon (Jack Moore): Hatherleigh has always been a tough place to go so won't be taking them lightly. We know it will take us to mess-up pretty bad to not win the division. However, we are going out to win the last two games, as we have prepared for the previous 16. James Tyson is back and ready to hop on the ‘fun bus’.

THORVERTON (5th) v BRIDESTOWE (2nd)

Thorverton (Jake Choules): Positives: staying in the division (although not mathematically there yet), plus more experience for plenty of young players and some great individual performances. Negatives – had we had better availability and consistency. we would have challenged the top clubs. This week a prime example with a couple missing but another chance for 16-year-old Jack Baker (pictured, below). Jacob Broom also deservedly comes in. Looking forward to the day despite it being a bit of a dead rubber as it's sponsors’/vice-presidents’ day. Interested to see if Bridestowe have the same competitiveness as earlier in the season with not a lot to play for.

Bridestowe (Tallan Burns): A high for the club has been how well we've been able to compete in our first season in the division. There's some big clubs in the division, so hats off to the lads for getting us where we are now.

PLYMSTOCK (9th) v KILMINGTON (8th)

Plymstock (James Nicholls): Mike Blackmore is back off holiday and in for Connor Porter who drops down to the 2nd XI for their D West promotion push. Prince Masvaure (knee) remains on the injury list. Undoubtedly a big game for us and Kilmington this week. Hopefully any weather stays away and we can just get on with it. Both teams fighting all the way to the wire so expecting a tough game. It’s still in our own hands so we will all do what we can.

Kilmington (Brett Garner): Highs has been some fantastic individual performances most notably Joel Whelan 170 odd against north Devon, and youngster Connor Trott coming into the team at 14 and performing brilliantly. Oli Reed’s all-round performances been superb, especially his batting giving us valuable lower order runs. A lot of lows or misfortune due to injuries and availability have really hampered this season. Hopefully, that can improve next season. Now we need to give our all to stay in the division the fore. Hoping to continue that as we go into a tough final two rounds. Oli Reed – runs and wickets for Kilmington this season

TORQUAY & KENTISBEARE (3rd) v TAVISTOCK (7th)

Torquay & Kingskerswell: Think the lows are quite obvious: some disappointing news regarding promotion. Been impressed with how well the boys have performed and showed off their skills. Chris Kelmere has been class, Nathan Roux (now back in South Africa) was a huge asset to us, Rio Koyikarra has joined and become a part of the club instantly – and great to see Timmy Western still showing class, to name a few. Overall really happy with the team environment and vibes created. Despite it being a disappointing season in regards to results, been great to be a part of.

Tavistock (Charlie Barriball): Two games and at least one win required so hoping to get that this weekend at a ground the hasn't been a great one for us in recent history. Individually, I think Rhys Davies’ batting and James McGahey’s bowling have been great highs for us. Both have been very impressive all season. Lows have been the availability in the first half of the season but we have our place in this division for next season in our hands with two toplay. At the halfway point, I'd have taken that.

PLYMOUTH (4th) v ABBOTSKERSWELL (10th)

Plymouth (Sam Stein): Happy that all of our team members have contributed to winning games, and we have not just relied on one person. That has been the key for us to being closer to the top of the table this year. Some of our younger lads have gained a lot more experience which is great news for us a club. Unavailability has been our one thing for this season - we can't always put out the same side each weekend but we've got a good squad of players to choose from which makes life slightly easier.

Abbotskerswell: Toby Codd takes charge of the side in the absence of Ed Smout-Cooper,giving him the distinction of skipper two different clubs in the same season. He started the summer at Bovey Tracey's helm. Tom Heath and Charlie Hill are on holiday so Nick Guest, Jamie Lock and Alfie Harrison step up from the 2nd XI.Alfie Harrison – promoted from the 2nd XI for Abbotskerswell's game against Plymouth
