SOUTH Devon were indebted to Richard Beaumont for getting them out of trouble in the derby clash with Teignmouth & Shaldon.
Jack Allen (23) was the only one of South Devon’s first seven batters to get past 10 in an unimpressive total of 70 for six.
Ryan Bougourd (3-21) and Ross Abraham (2-23) were the T&S bowlers who posed the problems.
Beaumont, going in at eight, made exactly 50 not out and with support from Kalen Warne (27) put on 58 towards a final product of 161 for eight.
Three wickets each for Allen (3-31) and Mali Marshall (3-43) helped bowl South Devon to a 21-run win. Jonny Martin and Warne took two each.
Teignmouth & Shaldon opener Tyler Blackburn made 54 – mostly in boundaries – while the rest of the top order laboured to42 for four against Marshall, Martin and Allen.
Seamus McKenna took over where Blackburn left off and was the man South Devon had to shift.
Martin snared McKenna caught behind for 35, precipitating a T&S decline from 122 for five to 140 all out.
BRIXHAM ran out of puff on the chase against Ipplepen 2nd XI, who closed-out a 19-run win defending a total of 230 for six.
Tom Hopper (51) and Mo Shaikh (41) put on 93 for the third wicket as Brixham got to 122 for three at the end of the 26thover.
Matt Adams (47) and the middle order ensued Brixham were never that far below the asking rate, but double-digit overs to get ahead of it were few and far between. Only Steve Bowden and Harry Lewis (3-34) obliged with one each in the last 10.
Brixham reached the final five overs needing 51 to win with Adams one of their three wickets in hand. There were no ‘big overs’ on the last lap as Brixham only got as far as 211 for eight.
Sam deFriend, appearing in an Ipplepen team for the first time since 2021, top scored with 80 not when the home side batted.
Bowden (32) made early runs, Adam Peters (45) kept the board ticking over then deFriend and veteran Marcus Green (26) added 80 for the sixth wicket.
Lee Upham (2-39) and Ayden Fisher (2-44) were Brixham’s most successful bowlers. Fergus Rees (0-30) gave little away.
