
SPINNER Josh Couch claimed a four-wicket return as Teignmouth & Shaldon inflicted a 69-run defeat on Sandford 2nd XI.
Todd Ballman (60) and Alistair Cliffe (70) underpinned T&S’s total of 256 all out. Liam Gardner, a former Sandford player, made a quick 26 at the end.
Praison Alias (4-36) scooped the bowling plaudits for Sandford.
Sandford set off in hot pursuit with openers Ben Chaloner (41) and Jon James (26) both playing their shots. Tom Maidment (32) adopted the same policy.
Gardner (2-35) slowed things down from one end while Couch (4-25) twirled away from the other.
Wickets fell at regular intervals until Shaun Hawkins (39) reversed the trend. He was ninth out in a final total of 187.
SKIPPER Lee Dixon hit an unbeaten 65 to steer Heathcoat 2nd XI to a seven-wicket win over their Exeter counterparts in the C Division East.
Heathcoat were 58 for three when Dixon was joined in the middle by Joe Parkinson (38no). They did not lose another wicket rattling up the 165 needed to win.
Three wickets each for Jack Tucker (3-31) and Matt Knight (3-32), plus a pair for Matt Hodson, helped Heathcoat dismiss Exeter for 164 in the last of their 45 overs.
Exeter were 36 for four before Aaron Lawrence (20) put up some resistance. Bits and pieces Sean Baker’s 36 the best of them – puffed up Exeter’s total.
SHOBROOKE Park skittled Upottery for 120 and crushed them by 10 wickets in a one-sided affair.
Jack Larcombe’s watchful 26 off 79 balls was bettered only by 31 extras on a gloomy day for Upottery’s batters. No one else got to 20.
Andrew Codling (3-33) had early wickets for Shobrooke, Howell Brandwood (2-23) maintained the attack and Robert Ewing (4-18) took out most of the rest.
Not-out openers Henry Field (48) and Chris Simpson (55) had the game won before the end of the 22nd over.

A BATTLING half-century from Miles Olczak was not enough to spare Exmouth 2nd XI from a 30-run defeat by their Sidmouth counterparts.
Half-centuries from veteran opener Anthony Griffiths (62) and Oliver Smart (60), backed up by 45 from Miles Lewis, pointed Sidmouth in the direction of 251 for eight. Smart and Griffiths put on 91 for the fourth wicket.
Exmouth spinner Greg Marks did not take a wicket, but only cost four runs an over. Assad Ullah (2-18) and Rahma Mohammadi were fractionally cheaper from shorter spells.
Exmouth were wobbling at 44 for four in reply before Mohammadi (54) and Olczak batted the back into the game.
Mohammadi fell on 120 for five, but Olczak kept going. He was seventh out for 53 after a 74-ball stay on 174.
Exmouth ran out of time on 221 with two overs to go.
