IPPLEPEN 2nd XI dropped to third from bottom in the D Division West in the wake of a six-wicket reversal against Torquay & Kingskerswell.

The Pens were bowled out for 146, which the Seasiders polished off with more than 19 overs to spare.

Steve Bowden (25) and Sam Hennessey (32) repaired early damage done by T&K’s Beau Rider (2-20) with a stand of 66.

Matt Beasant (17) and Marcus Green (25) – both former Torquay players – were next best in the batting order.

Wickets fell regularly to Bobby Western (3-22) before Toby Delahunty (2-25) mopped-up at the end.

Torquay & Kingskerswell suffered a nightmare start that left them reeling at 15 for three. Jack Edworthy (2-14) did most of the damage.

Dardis and Lewis-Frost rescued the bridge from a wobbly 34 for four with a stand of 135 for the fifth wicket. Owen Howard chipped in 28 towards an all-out total of 250.

Jason Williams (3-33) had three of the top five in his stats. Scott Mansfield (4-54) trawled through the bottom half.

Three wickets each for Adrian Pullin (3-38) and Farzad Safi (3-19) ripped holes in the Plymstock batting.

No batter got further than 15 for Plymstock, who were bowled out for 104.

TAVISTOCK 2nd XI have now lost three on the trot in the D Division West after going down by nine wickets away to leaders Chagford.

Not for the first time this season Tavistock were skittled for less than a hundred as their batting caved in.

Marc Lewis (23), Dave Manning (18) and Will Chappell (16) had the only double-figures on a card that looked like binary programming in places. Ted Gossett (3-14) largely finished what Ollie Thomas (2-20) and Lucas Pedrochi (2-18) started.

Pedrochi (27) was Chagford’s lone casualty on the chase. Richard Hopwood (42no) and James Sharman (20no) were there at the end.

Defeat leaves Tavistock two places and four points clear of the bottom two.
