NOAH Sutton’s century – his second in league cricket – was among the highlights of Ipplepen 2nd XI’s 161-run win over D West strugglers Dartington & Totnes.
Sutton blazed away for exactly 100 off 67 balls faced – ten fours, four sixes – as the Pens galloped along to 310 for seven in 45 overs.
Steve Bowden (63) controlled the early part of the innings with Jeff Heath (30) for company during a stand of 71 for the third wicket. After Bowden was fourth out with 10 overs to go on 185, the run rate went through the roof!
Sixteen-year-old Sutton and Freddie Harvey (37) put on 87 in just five overs. Tobias Alsop slapped it around a bit while making 19 from 13 balls as the tally grew.

Jono Lloyd, the D&T captain, rang the bowling changes in an attempt to slow things down. It had limited success, although Lewis Starkie (3-50) and the skipper (2-49) got it down to below 10 an over by the end.
Dartington & Totnes, who were without consistent run-getter Justin Osborne, were under no illusions about the task ahead
Paul Taylor (20) was the lone top-six batter to hang around for long. D&T were 89 for eight at one stage. Kevan Throgmorton (34) and veteran Mick Rusling (16) kept Pens in the field long enough to reach 149 all out.
Ross Kennard (3-21), Paul Thomas (2-16), Harvey (2-25) and Warrick Green (2-20) took the bowling honours for Ipplepen..jpeg)
KENN defeated Barton 2nd XI by 70 runs to leave the Cricketfield Road outfit bottom of the pile for another week in the D Division West.
Chris Stubbs, the Barton captain, have hoped the win over Abbotskerswell 2nd XI seven days earlier was the catalyst that would move the team up the table. It didn’t.
The only consolation for Barton is that fellow Abbotskerswell and Dartington & Totnes both lost as well, which means only two points still separate all three of them.
Martin Swannell, the former Paignton and South Devon batsman, made a top score of 78 for Kenn as they advanced to 260 for seven.
Ben Chaloner made 57 and there were runs at the end for Huge Stronge (56no) and Pete Chislett (25).
Louis Hargreaves (4-54) was Barton’s main wicket taker. Sree Sankaranaryanan (9-4-25-1) offered few scoring opportunities.
A procession of Barton batters got in, got settled and got out again without going on to make a score to hang a six-an-over run chase on.
Tom Porter (33), Sankaranaryanan and Greg Shelton (both 23) and Chris Penner (20) all got starts, but went no further in Barton’s total of 190 all out.
Chislett (3-39), Stronge (2-32) and Harry Graydon (2-33) did the business with the ball for Kenn.
PLYMSTOCK remain out in front of Babbacombe and Plymouth CS&R at the top of the D Division West after an emphatic six-wicket win over Ivybridge 2nd XI.
Ivybridge collapsed from 71 for five to 98 all out as the father-and-son team of Ian and Ben Whalley ran through their batting.
Spinner dad Ian took four wickets for six runs in seven overs – and all six runs came in one shot from Chris Northmore!
Seamer son Ben, who operated with the new ball, had four of the top six in his four for 43. Ayash Upamal (33) was the only batter to make much headway.
Plymstock were never in any difficult situations on the chase, although Upamal (3-31) and Northmore (0-28) made sure it wasn’t too comfortable for them.
Teddy Richards made 15 opening up, Connor Porter had 28 in the middle and Alex Thomas was 35 not out at the end.
SKIPPER Danny Forrester set the tone for Hatherleigh 2nd XI with an undefeated 160 in their 84-run win over Abbotskerswell 2nd XI.
Forrester has been batting down the order this season, but moved himself up the order with devastating effect against Abbots.
Batting at first wicket down Forrester went in at 33 for and was still there when the overs ran out with the score on 321 for five.
Forrester hit 19 fours and four sixes from just 108 balls faced. He shared in a stand of 75 for the second wicket with Zak Spears (22) and another of 138 unbroken with Hayden Sharp (53no).
Abbots’ Bowling bright spots were limited to a three-for-48 return in the book for veteran spinner Andy Lock.
Steve Bishop, a new recruit to Abbots’ cause, marked his debut with a century in a respectable reply that reached 237 for eight.
Bishop, whose availability will improve during the school holidays, made 103 from 100 balls. He put away 17 fours – the last off Cameron Rowlands to reach his ton – and a single six. A stand of 139 with Jamie Lock (44) was a definite highlight for Abbots.
Forrester (2-20) and Tom Carroll (2-32) were the only Hatherleigh bowlers to claim more than one wicket.
