The Division Three title race takes centre stage this weekend, with leaders Bovey Tracey travelling to nearest challengers Ottery St Mary, while Bradninch & Kentisbeare head to the East Devon coast to face Exmouth 2nd XI.

With just three games remaining for the leading sides, there is still plenty to play for as the 2026 season heads towards its conclusion.

Ottery St Mary v Bovey Tracey

The biggest match of the Division Three season takes centre stage this weekend as leaders Bovey Tracey travel to Ottery St Mary in a top-of-the-table showdown that could decide the destination of the Division Three trophy.

With just three league fixtures remaining, the stakes could hardly be higher. Bovey Tracey have been the division’s outstanding side in 2026, winning all seven of their matches to build a 28-point advantage at the summit. A maximum 20-point haul for Ottery St Mary would cut the gap at the top and blow the title race wide open once again.

Bovey, meanwhile, will be determined to protect their unbeaten record and move to within touching distance of the Division Three crown.

They are a side that look to dominate with the bat, and in Olive McCauley and Amelie Webber they boast the two leading run-scorers in Division Three. Keeping that pair quiet could be crucial to Ottery’s hopes of ending the leaders’ unbeaten run.

Bovey Tracey team manager Jim McCauley believes his side are ready for the challenge.

“We’re really looking forward to our top-of-the-table clash at Ottery St Mary this weekend. Our batters and bowlers have both been in great form throughout a busy run of fixtures, and we’ll be looking to maintain those high standards. We know it’ll be a tough game, but we’re excited for the challenge and have no intention of letting up now.”

Ottery St Mary, however, possess the bowling attack to test Bovey’s powerful batting line-up. They have three of the division’s top six leading wicket-takers in their ranks, with captain Abbie Sullivan, Lily Harlond and Alice Gregory all enjoying impressive seasons with the ball.

The trio will be looking to stem the Bovey flow of runs and give the home side the opportunity to turn the title race on its head.

Ottery have enjoyed a remarkable first season in the Devon Women’s Cricket League and know that victory on home soil would be a huge statement in their pursuit of the title.

With the league’s leading run-scorers coming up against one of its most productive bowling attacks, the top-of-the-table clash has all the ingredients for a fascinating contest.

 

Exmouth 2nd XI v Bradninch & Kentisbeare

Bradninch & Kentisbeare head for the East Devon coast this weekend looking to complete a league double over Exmouth 2nd XI after edging a thrilling reverse fixture earlier in the season.

Bradninch arrive in third place after another impressive campaign, collecting 90 points from seven matches. While the title may now just be beyond their reach, they remain determined to finish the season strongly and continue building on an excellent campaign.

Exmouth’s second XI have shown encouraging progress throughout the summer despite playing fewer fixtures than the sides around them. Two victories from five matches have demonstrated their potential and, with home advantage this weekend, Exmouth will be looking to gain their third victory of the season.

The previous meeting between the sides proved to be one of the closest matches of the season, with Fi Moran hitting the winning runs in the final over to seal victory for Bradninch.

Bradninch captain Megan Acton is looking forward to another competitive afternoon.

“We really enjoyed playing Exmouth when they came to our place earlier in the season. It was a fantastic game that went right down to the final over, with Fi Moran hitting the winning runs. A fortnight ago, I thought we performed really well against Bovey Tracey, who are clearly the benchmark side in Division Three this season. Although we didn’t get the result, we acquitted ourselves very well. We always enjoy a trip to the seaside, and hopefully we can put in another strong performance and come away with all 20 points.”

With both teams keen to finish the season strongly, another closely fought contest looks in store on the East Devon coast.
