Bovey’s big hitters face Jackson test as Bradninch come calling

Bovey Tracey will put their perfect Division Three record on the line when they welcome an in-form Bradninch & Kentisbeare side on Sunday.

Four league games have brought four victories for Bovey, who could hardly arrive at this weekend’s fixture in better batting form following a remarkable display against Chagford last time out.

Bovey amassed an extraordinary 316 for two, with Olive MacCauley leading the way with an unbeaten 121 to register her maiden century.

MacCauley was joined in the run-scoring by Emily Martin, who finished unbeaten on 95 as Bovey’s batters took full advantage and piled up one of the most imposing totals of the Division Three season so far.

The league leaders will be hoping the runs continue to flow this weekend, although Bradninch arrive with plenty of confidence of their own after securing a nail-biting last-over victory against Exmouth 2nd XI.

Fi Moran kept her cool to hit the winning runs in that dramatic chase and has quickly established herself as one of Bradninch’s key batters this season.

Moran has scored two half-centuries in her three appearances so far and will be one of the key wickets the Bovey bowling attack will be looking to prise out.

At the other end of the contest, Bovey’s in-form batting line-up will have to find a way past Division Three’s leading wicket-taker Yvonne Jackson.

Jackson has taken nine wickets in her last two games and will be looking to cause havoc among a Bovey batting order that showed just how destructive it can be last weekend.

Her battle with MacCauley, Martin and the rest of Bovey’s top order has all the ingredients to be one of the key contests of Sunday’s game.

Something will have to give when Division Three’s most destructive batting line-up comes up against the league’s leading wicket-taker.

Bovey will be determined to protect their perfect record and make it five wins from five, but a confident Bradninch side arrive knowing they have the players to bring that unbeaten run to an end.
