BABBACOMBE didn’t waste any time dispatching Stokeinteignhead in the top-versus-bottom clash in the E Division West.

Stokeinteignhead, still winless seven games into the season, were bowled-out for 114 with more than nine overs to go. Jon Robertson (35) had the bulk of the runs scored when he was sixth out on 55. Lishoy George (25) had the only other worthwhile score.

Babbacombe’s Jack Smith (4-23) included Robertson among his victims.

Skipper Rob Redding (36) and Dan Machin (19) made early inroads for Babbacombe into the target. Jack Alcock was 28 not out when the line was crossed in the 29th over.

Victory takes Babbacombe 21 points clear of second-placed Kenn at the top. Stoke are now 18 points adrift at the wrong end of the table.

CORNWOOD 3rd XI cruised to a nine-wicket win over Lewdown in the E Division West in a game that lasted fewer than 38 overs from start to finish.

Ryan Hodge (19) was the only Lewdown batter to make more runs than the 18 wides bowled by the Wood in his side’s 73 all out. Jacob Samuels (14) was next best.

Eoin Hewit (2-11) posed problems with the ball at first, which only increased when Andy Bees (5-15) got stuck in. Three wickets in five balls finished Lewdown off.

Cornwood’s only casualty during the chase was Evie Privett. Ewan Horner (20no) and Luke Temple-Smith (31no) went the rest of the way for the Wood, who remain third in the table.

KENN imposed a 30-run home defeat on Whitchurch Wayfarers that kept them second in the E West table behind leaders Babbacombe.

Kenn's James GoslingHugh Stronge (34no) rescued Kenn from 119 for seven with a knock that took them to 184 for nine. Dan Pooley had just got out for 30.

Nathan Prout was the only one of the six Whitchurch bowlers deployed not to take a wicket. Peter Williams (9-1-15-2) had the stand-out figures.

Ben Hodge (20) and Jack Mackenzie (33) took Whitchurch to 75 for three, which could have been the stepping stone to a successful chase. A slip to 98 for six meant a rethink.

Marc Kerswill (25) edged Wayfarers closer, but when he was eighth out with 35 still needed not close enough.

James Gosling (4-18) flushed out the tailenders as Whitchurch were dismissed for 154.

BRIDESTOWE & Belstone 2nd XI made their Stoke Gabriel counterparts sweat for a one-wicket win in the E Division West.

Toby Gostling (47) and Noah Metherall (32) put on 37 for B&B’s sixth wicket as they laboured to 122 all out.

Chris Harrison (2-29) claimed top-order wickets for Stoke Gabriel. Skipper Kyle Lardner (3-23) ensured there was no lower-order rescue act.

Stoke Gabriel found run-making just as tough with no partnership of more than 24 from start to finish. Chris Lavis (3-21), Callum Mallett (3-28) and Sree Sunandan (2-20) posed problems with the ball.

Lardner, in at 86 for six, made 20 to get the target down to eight. Last pair Harriet Duke and Sanjog Dabholkar went the rest of the way.

MATT Draper and Joe Coppola bowled Plympton 3rd XI to an unlikely 42-run win over visiting Paignton 3rd XI.

Paignton looked to be favourites after skittling Plympton for 112. Opener Eldo Mathew (36) made the only score above 20.

Pick of the Paignton bowlers with four for 27 was James Wakeley. Jon Roberts (1-17) gave little away.

The writing was on the wall for Paignton at 11 for four after an early going over, mostly from Draper (4-14).

Jason Woodcock (21) and George Russell (15no) hung around for a while before Coppola (3-13) went through the stragglers.
