Hatherleigh v Clyst St George

Hatherleigh have the chance to complete a league-and-cup double on Sunday when they face Clyst St George in the final match of the 2026 Devon Women’s Cricket League season.
The Tolchards Division Two title will be decided by the result, with Hatherleigh going into the game on 68 points, 11 behind leaders Taunton Deane, whose six-match programme is already complete on 79.
Hatherleigh need 12 points from Sunday’s fixture to move beyond Taunton and secure the title outright.
There is already silverware in the Hatherleigh cabinet after they beat Taunton Deane by 40 runs in last weekend’s Tolchards T20 Plate Final.
Amalie Brock and Jessica Dennis took three wickets apiece as Taunton were restricted to 66 for eight after Hatherleigh had made 106 for six.
Sunday now gives Hatherleigh the chance to finish the season with two trophies in the space of seven days.
Clyst St George, however, have already shown they are capable of disrupting those plans.
When the sides met on August 23, Clyst produced one of their best performances of the season to win by 62 runs.
After losing Ali West early, Alyssia Hayes and Clare Pym added 126 for the second wicket. Hayes made 73 from 78 balls, including ten fours, while Pym contributed 43 as Clyst reached 170 for nine from their 35 overs.
Hatherleigh fought back with the ball towards the end of the innings, with Brock taking two for 25, Chloe Rose two for 31 and Abigail Dennis two for nine.
Their reply never gathered the same momentum. Rose top-scored with 38, but Sophia Esson returned three for 16, with Esme Brooks and Bella Wells taking two wickets each, as Hatherleigh were bowled out for 108.
Hatherleigh therefore know exactly what Clyst are capable of, but they also go into the rematch with plenty of individual form.
Chloe Dennis ( pictured) has more than just the league title to play for.
She is second in the Division Two batting standings with 222 runs, behind Taunton Deane’s Pippa Stephens on 276. With Taunton’s league season complete, Dennis needs 55 runs on Sunday to overtake Stephens and finish outright as the division’s leading run-scorer.
Dennis also leads the Division Two bowling statistics with 12 wickets at an average of 8.42, including best figures of five for seven.
Taunton’s Martha Wilkes is one behind on 11 but has completed her season, leaving Hatherleigh teammate Amalie Brock, with seven wickets, as the nearest bowler still able to add to her tally.
Dennis is therefore well placed to take the divisional bowling award, while she still has the chance to finish top of the batting standings as well.
Rose has contributed 161 runs to Hatherleigh’s campaign, while Olivia Cooper has added 123, giving the Plate winners several players who have made important contributions with the bat.
Clyst, meanwhile, have already demonstrated the threat in their batting, particularly through Hayes, whose 73 was the defining innings when the sides last met.
They may be unable to challenge for the title themselves, but they still have a big part to play in deciding where the Division Two trophy ends up.
For Taunton Deane, all that remains is to watch and wait.
For Hatherleigh, Sunday is the chance to turn an already successful season into a double-winning one.
Twelve points for the title, 55 runs for Dennis to reach the top of the batting standings, and one final game to bring the 2026 DWCL season to a close.
