The Tolchards Devon Cricket League is urging clubs across the county to be vigilant after a spate of machinery thefts.
Bridestowe & Belstone CC and Lewdown CC have been broken into in the past week, with groundskeeping machinery stolen from both clubs, whilst other local sports teams have also been targeted.
"The league is urging clubs to be diligent and secure ahead of the season," said Ed Leverton of the League Management Committee. "Clubs should make sure their insurance is up-to-date and validated, and to beware if they are offered 'cheap' machinery.
"Clubs might also want to check their ground machinery, especially if this has been kept in storage away from their main pavilion."
Amongst the groundskeeping machinery stolen were several pedestrian mowers (including a Dennis FT510), scarifiers and a generator.
