Devon Women's Assistant Coach, Jon Musikanth, has embarked on the UK's most iconic cycling challenge in an effort to raise funds for the side.
In what was, by his own admission, "a very last-minute decision," Jon set off from Land's End on Monday, 14 September, with the aim of reaching John o' Groats by 13 October.
"It's a challenge I have wanted to take on for years," said Jon when the Devon Cricket Foundation caught up with him in Crediton last week.
Jon joined Devon Women's coaching staff in April 2026 as Head Coach Lauren Rowles's Assistant, with the team going on to be crowned Metro Bank One Day Cup League Three Division 1 champions in August.
"Devon Women are a fantastic group of talented and committed cricketers who deserve support. If everyone who sees this donated and encouraged one other person to do the same, we could raise an amazing amount for Devon Women.
"Throughout Devon, there is a remarkable depth of talent, commitment and enthusiasm. However, developing that talent requires resources. Additional funding would enable us to provide greater developmental support for women and girls' cricket across the county."
"The main reason I'm doing it is to raise money for Devon Women. During the past two years, I've had the privilege of umpiring a lot of games through all the age groups, as well as the senior women's clubs. And to be fair, it's been an eye-opener for me. The enthusiasm, the growth in the game in women's cricket has been immense.
"Having the girls and women take part has added a whole new dimension. It really has helped evolve the game: there's more thinking, different ways of doing things, different perspectives, and certainly I've learned a lot in the last two years.
"Please contribute, support us and let's give a little bit back for the future generations of cricketers to come."
