CORINTHIAN CUP ROUND-UP By HARRY EVERETT

TEIGNMOUTH and Shaldon racked-up an impressive 233 for five on the way to a 159-run home win over Paignton in round two of the Ivor Dewdney Corinthian Cup.

Ruben Minnaar started things with 56, then Todd Ballman hit 90. Even England Deaf squad member Steven George (3-35) could barely stem the tide. Jack Tolley - 90 against Filleigh

No one reached 25 in Paignton’s reply of 72 for eight. Minaar ripped through the middle-order with three for two from two overs.

Teignmouth & Shaldon worked their ticket to finals day at Sandford on August 4 with a 13-run win over Bovey Tracey 2nd XI, also at home.

Seamus McKenna top scored with 59 as T&S reached a more modest146 all out. Bovey skipper Dan Green (3-32) helped get the home side all out in the last over. Ollie Briddock (2-20) and Ben Kay (2-30) also played a part.

Bovey opener Jake Forey made 56 and skipper Green 24 in a hurry, before man-of-the match McKenna took three for 25 to stifle the reply on 133 all out. There were two wickets each for Josh Couch, Ross Abraham and Tyler Blackburn.

Bovey Tracey (102-6) had reached the last eight by beating Ipplepen (101 all out) by four wickets. Jack Ansley’s three for 13 and Thomas Andrew’s 64 were the Bovey highlights.

Stoke Gabriel are through to a third successive finals days thanks to wins over Barton and Filleigh. Tarisai Masakanda (59) made Barton’s only double-figure score in their total of 103 all out.

Stoke’s reply was halted by miserly Barton bowling, that took them to the final over with three wickets left and needing eight to win outright or seven to tie.

Isaac Withington and Dan Bullock scampered a single off Louis Hargreaves’ final delivery to level the scores and squeak over the line on fewer wickets lost.

Stoke (168-4) went on to win more comfortably at home to Filleigh (125-6) in their quarter-final. Jack Tolley’s 90, mostly scored in a stand of 104 with Justin Pringle (41) was part of the match-winning formula. Isaac Withington’s four for 18 was on the other side of the equation.

Other than runs down the order for Albert Buckley (42) and Matt Boundy (32), it was a long and fruitless journey for the North Devon side.

Filleigh (147-7) earned that tie by beating Cornwood 2nd XI (145 all out) after an even further trek down to Oak Park.

Josh Goodliffe’s 61 was a rare bright spark in a home score of 145 all out. Buckley’s five for 15 was the performance of the match before Filleigh skipper Justin Saker top scored with 49 off 23 balls.Joe Elsworth - runs on the way to the final for Uplyme

Uplyme & Lyme Regis (151-9) beat Budleigh 2nd XI (92 all out) thanks to all of the top six making double-figures – Joe Elsworth (34) the pick – despite Lee Russell’s four-wicket haul. Preston Hilless (3-26) wrapped up the win by 59 runs.

Ottery St Mary were swept aside by 33 runs as Uplyme worked their passage to final day.

Dan Magee (35) and Elsworth (22) were the main run getters in an Upottery total of 116 for eight. Dan Alford (4-14) was the leading Ottery bowler.

Ottery lost it in the time it took to slide from 43 for one to 54 for seven as Magee (2-11), Steve Batey (3-6) and Lahiru Abeywickrama (3-16) got stuck into them. Opener Rhys Norman (41) was ninth man out in a final total of 83.

The Otters defeated Sandford 2nd XI in round two. Former Topsham seamer Norman came in at three and whacked 78 in the away side’s 164 for three. Thirties from senior batters Jon James and Shaun Hawkins were not enough as Kevin Brandom took 4-fer, the Creedy Park hosts 150 all out to lose by 14 runs.
