Devon Women produced a professional and powerful run chase to overcome Wiltshire by seven wickets at Westbury & District CC on Sunday.
Having elected to field, Devon's bowlers faced a stubborn resistance led by Wiltshire captain Emily Smith (72). Katie Donovan (4-40) was the standout in her final game before leaving for international duty, claiming the early wicket of opener Emma Godman (2) before mopping up the tail, while debutant Maddie Russell (2-44) provided crucial early strikes. Further wickets from Ellie Bishop (1-33) and Imogen Daldorph (1-21), and the crucial run out of Isla Thomson set Devon a target of 201.
In response, Devon's chase was never in doubt after Elle Golsworthy was dropped at third slip in the opening over. Golsworthy (95) took centre stage with a third 50 in her last four Devon Women matches, as she and Jemima Vereker (32) laid the foundation with a commanding 110-run opening stand. Though she fell agonisingly short of a deserved century, the job was all but done. Regina Lilii (27*) and the composed Ella Gill (15*) guided Devon home with eight overs to spare, their unbroken 43-run partnership a clinical finish.

David Joseph's Post-Match Thoughts
"Another good result and team performance based around disciplined bowling and a well-organised chase.
"We are very fortunate to have a well-led, talented young side who are gaining experience game on game and taking on responsibility.
"I'm really pleased with the way that players are making the most of opportunities and making impacts on games."
Steph Hutchins' Post-Match Thoughts
"Wickets were shared around, and we had a great opening partnership which then continued down the order as well. We'll look to keep this form heading into the last two league fixtures.
"We are currently five from five and at the top of the table, which is a great place to be in a competitive league.
"We also had a young debut with Maddie, which is great to see and shows that there is a great development through our pathway into senior county cricket."
