PREMIER DIVISION PROSPECTS – WEEK TWO

Tavistock v Sidmouth

Tavistock (Sean Cleave): Unchanged from the side that opened against Bradninch. We’re looking forward to the challenge that Sidmouth will bring this weekend. We can’t wait to be back playing up at the Ring, and this match will be dedicated to our late president, Andrew Jarman, who sadly passed away recently. A minute’s applause will be held just before the match, and we encourage everyone who knew Andrew to come along and join us in paying tribute. Here’s hoping for a dry day so we can finally get the season under way properly.

Sidmouth (Taylor Ingham-Hill): Will Murray comes back from injury this week. Luke Bess and Ethan Chiappe also return. Hoping the weather will stay away this week. Tavistock have had some great recruitment and will we looking to build on from last year so should be a great contest!

Sandford v Exeter

Sandford (Adam Small): Jackson Thompson, Harrison Jones and James Theedom back in so unfortunately lose Praison, Jonny Handley and Tom Gidney. Overseas still fighting visa issues. Looking forward to the first game at home, hoping to be a good game and fingers crossed the weather plays ball as well

Exeter (Jon Lewis-Oliver): Couple of changes this week. Debut for Owais Ahmad who has impressed over the last couple of years in the 2nd XI with bat and ball and fully deserves his opportunity. Tossing-up with Adam Small is something I’ve been excited about since the fixtures were announced. We also look forward to Sandford slyly trying to poach half our team throughout Saturday afternoon. Also, Sandford teas.

Exmouth v Bradninch & Kentisbeare

Exmouth (James Horler): Similar side to last week. Still no Noah Musikanth (school) and Pete Turnbull (holiday). Hopefully get some cricket in this week. Nice to be back at the Maer. Looking forward to a competitive game of cricket.

Bradninch & Kentisbeare (Gary Chappell): Hunain Shah has been called up to the Pakistan national camp after his PSL success so won't be joining us this season. We wish him well and are fortunate to have found a top-class replacement, whom I won't reveal yet. He won't be here for a couple weeks so it's not ideal, but nothing we can do about it. It provides opportunities for others, and we'll be going into the match at Exmouth fully focused. All the pressure on them as they are desperate to win the league and have been (not so quietly) backing themselves over the winter. On a serious note, they're a strong side and great bunch of lads and we're looking forward to another tough game against them. Other team news is Mahir Choksi (Exeter Uni) comes in for Theo Lamey.

Paignton v Cornwood

Paignton (Harry Ward): Same team as last week. The lads are looking forward to get going and being back at QP. Cornwood are always a competitive side who play good cricket, so we know it’ll be a tough test. We’re looking forward to a good game against a strong team.

Cornwood (Matt Skeemer): A few unavailable this week so teams are still being confirmed. Usually, it is a very competitive game at their place so hoping the weather stays away and we get one in.

Hatherleigh v Plymouth

Hatherleigh (Rob Cockwill): A Couple of changes from last week. Ryan Quick, Gareth Tidball and Emmerson Wood all out. Ryan Davies, Rob Fishleigh and Sean Letheren all back in. Playing against Jonty Rapulana (Hatherleigh 2021-22) will be interesting. We know how good he can be. Good to be back at home. Looking forward to a Hatherleigh tea again.

Plymouth (Teddy Haffenden): Sam Stein and Harry Witcher back in to the side.  We made a really positive start with the ball last week so looking for more of the same this Saturday.
