ADAM Frost marked his Plymstock debut with five wickets in the derby day win over Plympton’s.
Frost, new to the area but a seasoned campaigner in the Bradford Premier League for Pudsey St Lawrence, collected three of the wickets to tumble in Plympton progressive score of 37 for four.
Raul Randev (63) and Fin Torley (32) restored some semblance of order with a stand of 54 for the fifth wicket. Once Rob Cunningham prised them apart, Plympton nosedived from 91 for five to 122 all out.
Frost returned to take two more wickets for match figures of five for 18. Skipper Tom Mitch (3-24) helped with the tidying up.
Max Castledene (27), another newcomer to the Plymstock dressing room with Essex League on his CV, and Kiwi Chester Oldfield (29no) steered the team in sight of victory.
Despite some interference from Plympton’s Harnoop Kalsi (3-24), Plymstock clinched victory with more than 12 overs to go.
Mitch said there may have been three influential performance, but added: “There is plenty of room for improvement.
“Frosty was relentless, didn’t give an inch and was well rewarded. Max got us off to a great start, looked classy and set us on our way,
“Chester batted very well to see us home.”
Harry Kandampully, the Plympton skipper, doffed his cap in Plymstock’s direction, albeit with an observation of his own side’s work ons.
“Plymstock bowled well and gave us very little,” said Kandampully. “We need to be more patient and bat long periods of time. Lots of learning to be done.”
Kandampully was far happier with the bowling department’s efforts, in particular Ben Banks and Kalsi.
“Banksy (1-9) bowled well up top and Harnoop bowled 10 very tight overs.”
Kandampully is hoping to see improvements this Saturday when Plympton make the short trip up the A38 to newly promoted Ashburton.
