PREMIER DIVISION PROSPECTS – WEEK EIGHT

BRADNINCH & KENTISBEARE v PLYMOUTH

Bradninch & Kentisbeare (Gary Chappell): Mitch Pugh away this week and Theo Lamey has a school game. Theo's older brother Morgan has earned his opportunity and comes into the side after a heap of runs in the 2nd XI this season. Eliot Acton and Ankit Badwal also in to provide experience Called-up: Jason Diggand depth with bat and ball. Plymouth are always competitive and have lots of good cricketers, so we fully expect another hard-fought game against them.

Plymouth (Teddy Haffenden): Just a couple changes this week, Hal Kerton and Callum Williams back in after a couple games away. Jason Degg comes in for his Premier Division debut to keep wicket.

CORNWOOD v EXETER

Exeter (Jon Lewis-Oliver): A few changes this week due to injuries and unavailability. Core still the same but we have tried to keep our batting depth. Seb Linnitt will captain this match whilst I’m injured and Tom Simmons is on holiday. All-rounder Sam Reed has recovered from the ankle injury that stopped him playing for Devon against Herefordshire and will play.

Cornwood (Matt Skeemer): Plenty of availability issues this week so team is still being sorted, Stan Baker and Chris Parker are two that are definitely coming in. Exeter obviously a very strong side that will be right up there this year. If we can start batting a bit better we’ll always back ourselves to be a tough team to beat at home.

TAVISTOCK v PAIGNTON

Tavistock (Sean Cleave): Availability isn’t the best this week, with Billy Barriball, Shaun Daymond and Will Scott-Munden all unavailable. However, it gives us an opportunity to bring in some fresh faces, with Dave Manning returning to the side. His experience will be a real boost, while Tom Sherrell and myself also come into the team. We face another well-established Premier Division side, so we know the challenge that lies ahead. The division is incredibly tight, so our focus remains the same. Keep giving it everything we’ve got and fight for every point available.

Paignton (Harry Ward): Cole Harford unavailable. Brenton Pedley back in after not passing the fitness test last week. As a group we are looking forward to Archie Osbornetravelling to Tavistock, only Stephan George has played there before, so it’s something new to the group. And will be an exciting challenge.

SIDMOUTH v SANDFORD

Sidmouth (Taylor Ingham-Hill): Matt Matravers out alongside Ethan Chiappe and Jens Wagstaff. Scott Barlow comes back in with Dan Powell and James Docherty to add all-round depth. Looking to build on some encouraging signs and get some momentum going.

Sandford (Adam Small): Jones and Chaloner return with a first appearance for Archie Osborne who has been in superb form for the 2nd XI. Looking forward to getting down to the coast and hopefully bouncing back after last weekend.

EXMOUTH v HATHERLEIGH

Exmouth (James Horler): Team still unconfirmed, due to a few last-minute fitness tests. Been plagued a little with injury recently with both Dan Pyle and George Greenway out. Trying to manage them coming back, hopefully in the near future. Looking forward to another sunny Saturday. Confidence is high in the camp, just looking to back our ability. Hatherleigh a nice bunch. Last time we played they sent us down to the A Division in 2021. Some overdue revenge possibly?

Hatherleigh (Rob Cockwill): Ryan Quick and Gareth Tidball (family commitments) out. Greg Solkin and Will Edwards are in. Exmouth look like they will be the team to beat this season going by early results, so obviously we are going into the game as massive underdogs, hopefully we can use that to our advantage. All we can do is control our own standards. As long as we do that, and give a good account of ourselves, I’ll be happy. Overall Looking forward to a lovely day out by the seaside.
