LUSTLEIGH booked their passage to the Valeport-sponsored Brockman Cup final next month when they defeated Abbotskerswell 2ndXI by 42 runs in a semi-final replay.

The first two attempts to play the game never got started – and the third was washed out before a result could be determined.

Lustleigh raced away to 204 for three on their compact ground with openers James Fulner (66) and Jon Wright (94) making most of the runs in a stand of 149.

Abbots’ Adam Latham (3-28) took all three wickets to fall.

Abbots tried to cash in on the short boundaries at Wreyland Manor, but did not have the same degree of success.

Charlie Hill made 60, Chris Sleep had 23 and Ian Jarman made 24 in Abbots’ riposte of 162 for nine. Pick of the bowlers with four for 32 was Duncan Manners-Chapman.

Waiting for Lustleigh in the final, which will be on a date to be confirmed in August, are Paignton.
