NORTH Devon CC’s community-focused players raised more than £800 for a charity close to their hearts by taking part in the Fremington Trailzblazers Sunset Run Fest.
Seventeen club members took part in the 5K race, which set off from the pavilion in the Sandhills at Instow, to raise money on behalf of the North Devon Deaf Children’s Society.
First-team skipper Jack Moore and team-mate James Tyson thought it wwould be an idea to organise a fun-run event for everyone at the club to enjoy. Then they thought it would be a good idea to try and get sponsorship donations for a charity, which led to entering an official 5K race.
With the help of runners from all areas of the club across the club – men’s teams, Tarka Ladies and colts – they totted-up the cash for the charity.
Fiona Tyson, whose son James was one of the runners, said: “It was a fantastic team effort.
“Great running by everyone was supported by a willing band of volunteers, who helped with marshalling and manning the refreshment pumps.”
