PLYMPTON are sticking with South African paceman Emmanuel Motswiri as their overseas player for the upcoming campaign in the Tolchards DCL B Division, writes Conrad Sutcliffe.
Motswiri has been playing First Class and Twenty20 cricket for Limpopo since leaving the UK last September.
Although Plympton slid to a second straight relegation, and find themselves playing B Division cricket for the first time since 1997, Motswiri had successful season at Harewood Park.
Twenty-nine league wickets – including a six-wicket haul against Barton – were complemented 372 runs at an average of exactly 31.
“Re-signing Manny was a no brainer from our point of view,” said Harry Kandampully, the Plympton captain.
“Manny fitted in brilliantly around the club and was very keen to help our young side out with coaching.
“Playing-wise, Manny had a good year. He is a handful with the ball and useful with the bat.
“With a year’s experience of playing in England, we are hoping he can do even better in 2026.”
Kandampully will hope his side’s stay in the B Division proves as brief a their 1997 predecessors. They went straight back up in second place behind champions Cornwood. Key men in the promotion-winning side were batters Lee Mundell and Jeremy Williams – both made more than 500 runs – and 46-wicket seamer Tony Brown.
