PREMIER PROSPECTS – WEEK TEN
Paignton (2nd) v Sidmouth (9th)
Paignton (Harry Ward): We’re still waiting on a late fitness test, but otherwise we’re expecting full availability for the first time this season. The boys are looking forward to this one and we’re hoping to carry some momentum from last week’s performance. Sidmouth are a dangerous side, so we’ll need to be at our best to get a result at QP.
Sidmouth (Luke Bess): Every game is a big game for us now. Individuals need to contribute when it matters. Waiting on three players re injury updates and availability so team not out yet. Great to have George Addy back on board after a brief spell with Exeter. Matt Matravers and Taylor Ingham-Hill both back from respective school duties. Isaac Thomas available for the first time this season, so we should be heading to Paignton with a strong side whatever the final make up.
North Devon (10th) v Cornwood (4th)
North Devon (Jack Moore): Couple out, Dan Bowser back in. Was good to put in a performance last week (against Plymouth) and hopefully we can take some momentum. We are up against it but it's exciting that we have the opportunity to string something pretty special together in the back nine without any pressure on us.
Cornwood (Elliott Staddon): North Devon always a really nice place to play but they know how to make it tough for oppo’s there. After their win last week, confidence will have grown so we know we will have to play well. Two changes from our team last week with myself unavailable due to work commitments and James Richardson the same. Alex Shutt and Jason Hall come into the side. Matt Skeemer will captain. As a team, of course, we want to win every game. But for us continuing to do the basic things well, like we have done recently, is our focus and continuing to enjoy playing well, both individually and as a team.
Exeter (6th) v Sandford (8th)
Exeter (Clint McCabe): George Addy has moved to Sidmouth as he wasn’t getting the performances and overs in that he would have liked. We wish him well. Alex Tipper comes back into the team now that school commitments are over. We know Sandford are a good side so we’re prepared for a good day of tough cricket on Saturday.
Sandford (Jackson Thompson): Matt Jeacock is back after a long stay away due to injury. Looking forward to seeing him run in. Obviously, an important second half for us and all to play for. Just need to go back to basics and lads will need to be hungry for runs and disciplined with the ball. Exeter is a good side with some good players. It will be a good game.
Bradninch & Kentisbeare (top) v Heathcoat (7th)
Bradninch & Kentisbeare (Gary Chappell): Couple away, but Theo Lamey is back from school stuff now. Toby Hard also comes back in. It’s great to have those young lads in the team and providing more depth/options. Heathcoat’s side looks to change most weeks, but we’re expecting a tough game as they’ve got good depth, experience and always play competitively.
Heathcoat (Dylan Penberthy-Hutchings): Looking forward to righting the wrongs from last week (lost to Cornwood) and getting stuck into Bradninch. We know that they're a quality side but also know that when we're on it we can beat anyone. Should be a good game if the weather stays away.
Plymouth (5th) v Exmouth (3rd)
Plymouth (Sam Stein): Full availability this weekend, which is great news as we’ve been a little hampered of late. Looking forward to the second half. We’ve started okay but looking to kicking on now wanting to secure a top four-finish. We know there are plenty of good sides around but we’ve competed well so far. Hoping the weather stays away this weekend.
Exmouth (James Horler): Fortunately, availability on our side this week, Ben Higton and Lawrence Greenway come back in, so full 11 for the first time this season. Unfortunately, it looks like the weather may play a part. Looking forward to what should be an exciting second half, Plymouth have been a good side this year, we were fortunate they were missing a few at the start of the season. Got to keep the momentum going early in the second half to try and stay within reach of the top.
