Devon Day at Somerset CCC
In additi on to being able to watch Devon compete in the new MCCA
T-20 competi ti on, as well as the KO Trophy and the Championship,
members will have the opportunity to att end, a County Championship
match at Taunton this season.
In recent ti mes, connecti ons between Devon and Somerset have
become closer and in the last decade more Devon players (10) have
become professional cricketers with Somerset than ever before.
Relati ons between the respecti ve coaching and administrati ve staff s
have become more producti ve, to mutual benefi t, and the new
Somerset CEO, Lee Cooper, has generously off ered the opportunity
for Devon CCC members to be spectators’ at no cost, on the fi rst day,
11th May, of the Specsavers Division 1 County Championship fi xture
between Somerset and Hampshire.
Membership/fi xture cards will have to be shown to get into the match
and Somerset staff have arranged for one of the stands to be available
for the exclusive use of Devon members throughout the day.
It is very much hoped that Devon members will be att racted to this
game and will wish to att end in large numbers. They can be assured
of a warm welcome from Somerset CCC, who is making special
arrangements for the day and the Devon committ ee. Somerset has
agreed to make some players available during the day, and there will,
of course, be opportuniti es to meet Devon cricketi ng friends in the
inti mate setti ng of the beauti ful Taunton county ground. It is hoped
that this day will be a great success and will be become an annual
event.
In further appreciati on of the loyalty of Devon CCC members, from
May to August, there will be a monthly draw, free to all members,
the prize for which on each occasion is hospitality for two - morning
coff ee, lunch and tea at a subsequent home match of the winners’
choosing.
The Devon CCC committ ee hopes that members will enjoy
their county cricket in the 2018 season.
