What is Linear Scoring?

Linear scoring is a written form of cricket scoring which uses a different layout from the familiar box-style scorecard, showing a timeline of the innings. It is often used to support cricket media due to its timeline format and the ease with which it allows users to pull statistics. It can also be used as a manual backup when scoring electronically.
