Somerset v Devon at Taunton Vale (April 28)
A second wicket partnership of 67 between Henry Squire (34) and Matt Matravers (25) turned out to be a match-winner.
Zak Vukusic saw us home with unbeaten 22 in 19th over.Matt Whalley was our best bowler with 2-14.

Cornwall v Devon at Taunton Vale (April 28)
Devon lost early wickets but Whalley steadied the ship with a controlled knock of 62 from 32 balls and which included four fours and five sixes as Devon settled on 134-7.
Wickets were shared around. Opening duo Joe Gillett (2-15) and Alex Shutt (2-23) got stuck in early doors. Whalley (2-9) was there again with 2-9 and Luke Thomas finished off the Cornish tail with 3-10 as they were bowled out for 95 in the 18th over

Devon v Hampshire at Blundells (June 16)
On a difficult wicket, but Devon opted to bat first
The home county never really got going early on. It was left to the middle order to come to the rescue with useful partnerships between Whalley, who top-scored with a well-deserved half century, Vukusic (27) and Toby Hard (23)
Devon's 175 for 9 from their 50 overs was never going to be enough to defend against the visiting county.
Devon did have Hampshire on the ropes with the score on 24-2 but they failed to take advantage and push on. Hard had a good day all round with 2-25 off five, but Hampshire hit the winning runs with four overs to spare and with four wickets in hand.

Somerset v Devon at Taunton School (June 30)
Joe Hopkins's match to remember
Devon were stuck in. Openers Henry Squire and Hopkins put on 60 for the first wicket.
Hopkins went on to notch his county maiden century with an undefeated 103. The knock came off 147 balls and included 12 fours.
There was also a useful middle contribution of 48 from Harry Witcher who didn't look out of place aftrer stepping up from the 15s. He and Hopkins put on 97 for the fourth wicket as Devon totalled a useful 253-8.
Somerset's Rishabh Shimpi scored a ton in Somerset's run chase as the hosts put on 68 for the first wicket.
A long spell followed with Somerset on top as they put on 100 in a second wicket partnership. But Gillett got the all-important wicket of Shimpi as Devon got stuck into the Somerset middle order with wickets falling regularly. Leggie Thomas (4-29) made the biggest impression ably assisted by fellow spinner Whalley (3-28) as Somerset finished 14 runs short on 239-9.
It had been a tough game for Devon but the team pulled toghether and everybody contributed

Wales v Devon at Newport (July 14)
Devon won the toss and stuck Wales in. Devon's bowling attack found it hard going on early on as the home side built nuseful top order partnerships - 58 for the first wicket and another 50 or so for the second.
Spinners Whalley (3-31 from 10) and Thomas (1-28 from 7) put the brakes on with Joe Gillett (2-46 from 9) grabbing a couple of wickets. Devon did well to keep the score down to 226-9 although they were to later rue a 33-run ninth wicket partnership from the hosts.
Openers Hopkins (35) and Matravers (24) got Devon off to a solid start. Toby Hard (42) joined Hopkins for a second wicket parntership of 75. Matt Whalley then weighed in with 36 off 40 balls. Devon fought to the end but they were to finish on 212 in the 48th over and a 14 run defeat - those late Welsh runs proving to be costly

Cornwall v Devon at Callington (July 21)
Devon won the toss and opted to field. A good all round bowling and fielding performance saw the home county limited to 174 and being bowled out in the 47th over. Henry Squire bagged 3-22, Gillett 2-29, and Whalley 2-23. The total was never going to be enough and should have been less but for a middle order batting recovbery.
It wasn't the first time Devon had let their opponentrs off the hook - something to work on making sure teams are 'killed off'
That said, Devon put in a good, professional approach in the run chase. Opener Hopkins went early, but Matravers (50) and Whalley(50) put the visitors firmly on the path to victory. It was left to Vukuisic (35no) and Hard to guide Devon comfotably across the finishling line with more than seven overs to spare.

Devon v Berkshire at Exmouth (July 24)
Devon won the toss and decided to bat.
In form opener Matravers was in the runs again with a patient 43. But Devon's middle order collapsed. It was up to skipper Vukusic to truy and set a decent score. He was undefeated on 71, which included nine fours and a six) as Devon were skittled out for 185 in the 43rd over. It was never going to be enough.
Spinner Toby Hard had the visitors reeling with two early wickets but they never looked back after that and coasted to victory in just the 30th over with the loss of five wickets. Whalley bagged 2-19. Lots of lessons to be learned!

Devon v Dorset at Mount Kelly (July 28)
Dorset were put in on a wet and green track
Wickets fell regularly with taking the pace off the ball key Spinners Hard (2-27) and Thomas (3-20) took full advantage as Dorset were restricted to 140 all out
Devon then decided to make a game of it as the result went down to the wire. All was going well with Hopkins and Squire putting on 51 for the second wicket after losing opener Matravers early on.
But then wiickets began to tumble and time was running out. Cometh the hour, cometh Alex Shutt. His swashbuckling 10 runs were vital in a ninth wicket partnership with Hopkins to see Devon home with just a couple of overs to spare. Hopkins had been there since the start and finished undefeated on 45 from 122 balls!

Devon v Wiltshire at Torquay (August 1)
Leggie :Luke Thomas was the star of the show as Devon turned over Wiltshire by 40 runs at Torquay.
Thomas bagged his second five wicket haul in as many seasons to put the skids under Wiltshire with figures of 5-21 from eight overs.
Medium pacer Harry Shelton, making his debut for the county this season, bagged 3-24 as the visitors were skittled out for 177 chasing Devon's tally of 217.
Hopkins (38) and Matravers (36) put on 78 for the first wicket. Vukusic (40) and Marco Bell (21) also contributed to the Devon score

Gloucester v Devon at Thornbury (August 14)

Devon v Somerset at Ivybridge (August 18, 19 and 20)
The three-day game against Somerset was Matt Whalley's moment in time and his maiden century for the county.
His 117 came off 181 balls and included 17 fours and three sixes as Devon amassed a first innings total of 273.
Vukusic chipped in with 31 and there was a useful score of 31 from Elijah Payne late in the order.
Whalley (2-26) had been among the Somerset first innings wickets earlier - and Pyne had followed suit with the ball finishing with 2-19 as Somerset were bowled out first time round for 231.
Spinner Toby Hard (3-19) and Shutt (2-16) were the pick of the Devon bowlers as Somerset were bowled out for 217 in their second innings.
Opener Matravers (37) gave the home county a good second innings start, but it was Hard who also took the batting honours with an unbeaten and patient 80 from 145 balls.
Pyne (26no) was also there at the end with another invaluable contribution as Devon reached 176-5 to win by five wickets .
