Updated 15 January 2025.
Players can become part of the Performance Pathway via the annual Youth Development Cricket (YDC) nomination and selection process.
Qualifying Criteria
Players must fulfil at least two of the following three criteria to qualify for selection to the Devon Cricket Performance Pathway:
- The player must live in Devon.
- The player must attend school in Devon.
- The player must play for a club affiliated to the Devon Cricket Foundation.
The nomination and selection process for YDC will be separated into two phases:
Phase 1
This phase is specifically for players who are not currently involved in the Performance Pathway.
Players who were involved in the YDC or County Age Group (CAG) Winter Programmes 2024/25 or who have been selected for a YDC or CAG Summer Squad in 2025 will not be observed in this phase.
Players who do not meet these criteria will need to be nominated, including those players who have previously been involved in the Performance Pathway.
Players nominated for the YDC must be born in these date ranges:
Category | Date Range |
Boys | Born on or between 01/09/2011 and 31/08/2016 |
Girls | Born on or between 01/09/2010 and 31/08/2014 |
Phase 2
In this phase, players selected from Phase 1 will join players who were involved in YDC Winter Programmes 2024/25 for observation.
Players who have been selected for a YDC or CAG Summer Squad in 2025 will automatically be invited into a 2025/26 YDC Winter Programme or for observation into a 2025/26 CAG Winter Programme.
Nomination Process
We recommend that club coaches, team managers, or junior coordinators nominate players for the Performance Pathway. Parents cannot nominate their children for observation.
Nominated players must be competent with a hardball.

Nominators are urged to refer to our Talent Development Framework before nominating players.
