Muhammad Kaleem Joins Somerset Academy

Devon Under 15 Boys' Muhammad Kaleem has joined Somerset Academy.

The left-arm spinner, who plays his club cricket at Exeter CC and joined Devon's Performance Pathway aged 10, arrives in Somerset on the back of an impressive 2024.

In July 2024, he was selected for the annual Bunbury Festival whilst still playing for Devon Under 14 Boys, despite the showcase festival being for Under 15 players.

Following a strong showing at the festival, where he took 8 wickets across the three days, Muhammad was selected to play for Somerset Under 18s in two three-day matches and two one-day fixtures.

Speaking on the last year and joining Somerset Academy, Muhammad said:

"Last summer was really good for me because I came back from an injury and now I’m pretty much fully recovered.

"I got asked by my coach to play in the Bunbury Festival where Matt Drakeley was the coach for the South West. I played quite well so Matt called me up to play in four or five Under 18 games for Somerset and now I’m on the Academy.

"In 2025 I want to play as high a level of cricket as I can. I also want to improve my overall fitness, get a bit stronger and more athletic."
