North Devon League latest: Burns brothers pile up the runs as Bridestowe & Belstone defeat reigning champions Bideford

BLIGHTS MOTORS NORTH DEVON LEAGUE
DEFENDING champions Bideford suffered their second defeat of the season when they lost at home to Bridestowe & Belstone at Westward Ho! by 56 runs
Bridestowe & Belstone batted first and scotched together an impressive 328 for four, thanks mainly to the efforts of Kian Burns (95), Tallan Burns (71) and Shaquan Glasgow 53. Forty-two extras helped the cause!
Lucanyo Metu, Bideford’s overseas player, was the pick of the bowlers with a couple of wickets.
Metu then led the home side's reply with a quickfire 60. Extras had a good, all- round game with a contribution of 58.
Harry Bushin (3-34) was the pick of the nine bowlers used by B&B
The only other game in the latest round was in Division Two at Braunton, who defeated visitors Newton Tracey by a healthy 127 runs.
Braunton batted first and racked up 233 for eight. Paul Derbyshire top scored with 72. Sam Reddick (36) and 34 extras were the other main contributors.
Shane Andrew took three for 43 for Newton, and there was a couple of wickets for Dom Robson
Newton’s chase never really got going and they were bundled out for 106. There were two wickets each for Ian Halton, Leo Pleasance and Steve Aston before Martin Biddle (4-22) mopped-up the tail.
Barnstaple & Pilton were left without a game as scheduled opponents Ilfracombe have withdrawn from the league.
