IPPLEPEN face a re-run of last season’s Brockman Cup final win over Babbacombe when the two teams clash again in the first round of this summer’s competition.
Ipplepen’s record-busting score of 189 for three at Torquay Recreation Ground – the highest total ever made by a team in the final – proved 29 too many for Babbacombe to chase down.
Toby Holroyd, who opened for Pens, lashed 74 off 33 balls in a scene-setting stand of 111 with Hugo Denman.
The two antagonists keep bumping into each other in the competition as they met in the 2024 final, which Babbacombe won by 23 runs.
Stokeinteignhead, who lost to Babbacombe in last season’s semi-final, have a bye in the first round.
Bovey Tracey, who came up short by 37 runs against Ipplepen, are away to Brixham in the first round.
