Five-wicket haul for Pedersen in Exeter's win over Cullompton + Sidbury snatch last-gasp win over Honiton

JESPER Pedersen claimed his first five-wicket haul for Exeter 3rd XI in their 99-run win at Cullompton 2nd XI.
Exeter made 211 for seven in their 40 overs with skipper Dick Holifield making 44 and Mark Jones 50. Cully chucked in 56 extras, mostly wides!
James Shere took the bowling honours for Cullompton with three for 19 from eight overs.
Exeter bowled far straighter than Cullompton, who were dismissed for 112 with more than 15 overs to go.
Pedersen hit the stumps three times on his way to figures of five for 24 and seven out of 10 dismissals went in the book as bowled.
Joe Teape (39) was Cully’s main run scorer.
Cullompton open the league season against Exwick II this Saturday.
Exeter’s Tier Six campaign in East Division Five starts with a short trip to Exwick 1st XI.
ASHBURTON 2ndXI bowled their way to a 29-run win away to Sampford Peverell & Tiverton.
Phil Pascoe top scored on 54 then retired to give others some batting time as Ashes reached 191 for four in 40 overs. George Marshall (39) and Felix Partridge (36no) took advantage of the opportunity.
The SP&T bowling was largely tidy with Paul Crittenden (1-26) and Jack Bentley (2-30) the most effective.
Ashburton took wickets at regular intervals to prevent the SP&T’s reply getting gong.
Kirby West’s (3-19) left-arm spin helped reduce SP&T to 77 for four with Richard Pugsley out for 24.
Dan Pugsley was 26 not out in SP&T’s 40 over total of 162 for seven.
Nick Yabsley, the Ashburton captain, said: “What a fantastic start to our season.

NEWTON Tracey’s batting looked a little rusty in warm-up games against Chulmleigh and Holsworthy.
Chulmleigh had Newton Tracey all out for 91 in a 40-over friendly. Captain Graham Moore (13) made the only score above 10.
Newton Tracey lost the game by eight wickets.
Holsworthy had to work harder for their five-wicket win over Newton Tracey, who were bowled out for 134 in the last of their 40 overs. Keiran Soper top scored on 36.
Holsworthy needed 24.4 overs to knock of the runs needed to win. Marcus Bulled (2-18) bowled six tidy overs for Newton Tracey.
Newton Tracey’s foray into Devon League cricket starts this Saturday when they go to Filleigh in Division Two North.
SIDBURY chased 237 to win in a 40-over outing against Honiton and got them with one ball to spare.
Honiton’s 40-over total of 236 for five was constructed around three key knocks.
Opener Dave Haysom was second out on 94 having smacked three sixes and seven fours on the way to 51.
Mike Docherty put away 10 fours and three sixes making 87 not out and shared a stand of 67 with Rob Ingram (43).
Openers Ben Pollard (30) and Ed Chester (30) gave Sidbury a 61-run start then handed over to Mark Bishop (72) and Ollie Pyne (32), who got the score up to 216 for four.
Three wickets fell for two runs added, but Dave O’Connor (28) stopped the slide and when he went Simon Rowe (12no) finished it off.
