Ellie Bishop tops poll as Super 8s player of the tournament

DESPITE the unusual and shortened season, the DWCL organised the Super 8s regional tournament, which ended at the beginning of September with an exciting final between Taunton Deane and Exeter.
During the groups stage matches of the tournament, each team had to nominate a player from the opposition they thought had played well, showed good sporting attitude and had contributed to the game.
The person with the most nominations would then be players' player of the tournament.
This title went to Ellie Bishop of Sandford CC, a real all-rounder of the game.
Drawn in the North region against Hatherleigh, Taunton Deane and Tarka North Devon, Sandford were in a very strong group. During the six innings she played, Bishop only lost her wicket once, either retiring or not out for all others. She also took five wickets throughout the tournament and two catches. Her quiet determination and steady attitude were clearly noticed by the opposition.
During the tournament, her games were as follows:
2nd August
Sandford vs Taunton Deane: retired not out 31 Sandford vs Tarka North Devon: 11 runs scored. 3 wickets
9th August
Sandford vs Hatherleigh: 31 retired not out, Sandford vs Taunton Deane: 33, retired not out. 2 wickets
16th August
Sandford vs Tarka North Devon: 20 runs, not out, 1 catch Sandford vs Hatherleigh: 10 runs, not out, 1 catch
A truly great tournament for Ellie, who was top run scorer in the group with 136 runs and second highest wicket taker with five wickets and an economy of 8.33.
Ellie has not only had a great season with the ladies, but has regularly played with the Sandford 3rd XI team. Her consistent batting scores of around 30-40 (best score, 42 not out) have earned Ellie the fourth-highest batting average of the whole club and she currently sits in the top ten bowlers of the club also.
Ellie continues to represent the county in the Devon under 15s and under 17s squad and has had equal success with the bat there as well, with three not-out innings and twice reaching a half century (under 15s vs Wales, 57: under 17s vs Wales 53*)
Many congratulations Ellie for what has been an excellent season for you and the Player's Player award well deserved.
