Devon Youth Cricket League to Launch in 2024

We are delighted to announce the launch of the Devon Youth Cricket League, which will commence in 2024.
Following meetings last week, the East Devon Youth Cricket League and South Devon Youth Cricket League have now been dissolved and will be incorporated into the newly formed Devon Youth Cricket League (DYCL).
Run by the Devon Cricket Foundation, the DYCL will replace the East and South leagues in 2024, with a newly-appointed Junior Competitions Officer responsible for its operation.
The launch of the DYCL has brought with it the opportunity to look at creating a step change in how we approach cricket across the county within the new competition. As a result, we have started working on some areas we think will help to deliver a new structure that grows the game in the best possible way over the coming years.
Devon Cricket Foundation's Managing Director, Matt Theedom, said on the move:
"On behalf of everyone involved in youth cricket across East and South Devon, we wish to convey our heartfelt thanks for the commitment of so many volunteers over the past three decades. In many ways, it's a sad day for volunteering, but we see it as a positive step forward to have a professionalised youth cricket league within the remit of the Foundation."
"The new Devon Youth Cricket League enables us to have consistency of rules, formats and competition, ensuring that all children across the two regions have an equal opportunity to flourish."
Speaking on the launch of the DYCL, Caroline Creer, Secretary of the East Devon Youth Cricket League (EDYCL), said:
"We are delighted with the developments that have taken place over the past few months that were recently adopted by the East Devon Youth Cricket League members at our recent AGM.
"The EDYCL has successfully run youth cricket competitions in East Devon since 1990 and we would like to thank all the clubs for supporting us during the past 33 years.
"It is now time to create new opportunities that ensure youth cricket flourishes into the future. The new Devon Youth Cricket League will allow this."
South Devon Youth Cricket League (SDYCL) Chair, Mark Faulkner, thanked everyone who had helped run the competition:
“In five years as Chairman of the South Devon Youth Cricket League we have come a long way. From the introduction of 'development cricket' through to the running of the matches being organised in-house between clubs and the unquestionable support from club coaches.
"I would like to think that the SDYCL has served its purpose to the youth cricketers of the area.
"I would like to thank Paul Harding, George Breyley and Richard Hussey for their great efforts over the years."
Entry forms for the 2024 DYCL are now in circulation with clubs. For further information about the guiding principles, league competitions and cup competitions, please follow the links below.
