Blights Motors NDL round-up: Unbeaten 97 from Brierley – David, not Dan – cornerstone of Lynton & Lynmouth win at Braunton

LYNTON & Lynmouth won by 133 runs at Braunton in a limited round of fixtures in the Blights Motors North Devon League.
Of the four games on the fixture list only two were played. Bridestowe & Belstone postponed their meeting in Division One. Victoria Park conceded their Division Two game against Exford.
Lynton racked up a 40-over total of 230 for nine on the Kelsey Ground with their top-four batters all cashing in.Skipper Andy Keech started off with 31 and shared a 60-run partnership with Mike Cornish (23).
Vishnu Kombath contributed 30 and David Brierley an unbeaten 97 off 72 balls that contained six fours and four sixes.
Ed Holmes (3-43) took the bowling plaudits for Braunton. Ian Halton (2-24) and Paul Derbyshire (2-39) had a couple of wickets each
Braunton struggled against some tight Lynton bowling. Opener Phil James anchored the innings with a patient 36. Martin Biddle (15) and Andy Parsons (14) were the only other batters to reach double figures
Robin Holland took three for 16; Fred Batt had two for 14 and Kombath two for 18 to dismiss Braunton in the 34th over.
Newton Tracey prevailed by five wickets in their home game against near neighbours Barnstaple & Pilton.
Drew Fewings – he made 99 against North Devon II on Saturday – completed a productive weekend with 59 in B&P’s all-out total of 177. Freddie Norton and Jamie Sutton both chipped in with 18 – and 37 extras helped the cause.
Oliver Symons (3-18), and Domi Moore (3-24) did the majority of the damage for Newton. There was a couple of wickets for Nicholas Blyth
Symons led the run chase with 35, extras (37) evened themselves out, and it was Bhaveshkumar Patel (60no) that saw Newton to victory with 11 overs in hand.

Hatherleigh (218) bt Westleigh (64) by 154 runs; Holsworthy (152) bt North Devon (146) by 6 runs; Braunton (154) lost to North Devon (156) by 5 wkts; Braunton (193) bt Holsworthy (133) by 60 runs.
