Burns and Glasgow take tons off Hatherleigh as B&B keep leaders Heathcoat in sight
BRIDESTOWE & Belstone maintained their pursuit of Brights Motors NDL Division One leaders Heathcoat with a comprehensive-113 run victory in the West Devon derby at Hatherleigh.
Bridestowe & Belstone racked-up an all-out total of 307, largely due to a second-wicket partnership of 166, scotched together between Tallan Burns and Shaquan Glasgow.
Burns hit 101 retired, off 65 balls, and Glasgow (100) retired from 63 deliveries. James Ewen chipped in with 27, and Joseph Woolnough contributed 22.
Martin Quick (3-33) was the pick of the Hatherleigh bowlers. Joshua Searle took two for 27.
Hatherleigh struggled against the eight bowlers deployed by B&B. Greg Solkin opened with a rapid 38, Oscar Moore top scored with 42 Adam Quick got 30, and there were 28 extras in an all-out total of 192. Burns completed a man-of-the-match performance by taking three for 33.
Coming next for Bridestowe & Belstone is a trip to leaders Heathcoat.
Bideford coasted to a 10-wicket win at Nomansland after bundling out their hots for 93 in the 24th over. No one bettered the 18 scored by Harry Cracknell.
Elliot Curry took five for 15 for Bideford, Jim Keates three for 27 and Oliver Keates two for 17.
Bideford knocked the runs off in a hurry, skipper Jack Ford hit an unbeaten 56. Martin Stewart supported him with 15 not out.
Holsworthy lost their top-of-the-table clash with Exford by 105 runs.
Exford’s total of 275 for three was based around an unbeaten 161 from Sam Price. He hit three sixes, and 20 fours during 120 balls faced. He had support from Ryan Jones (34), Ranjeesh Krishnan (32no) and Paul Jones (21).
Krishnan (4-23) then starred with the ball as Holsworthy were dismissed for 170. Anath Rajan supported him with two for 45, and Joshua Smith took two for 26.
Rory Piper opened for Holsworthy with 33, but it was left to Adam Lovejoy who hit an unbeaten 50 batting at 10, and 40 extras to get Holsworthy to 170.
Barnstaple & Pilton made the short trip to Braunton, where they won by four wickets.
However, the story of the match belongs to Braunton colt Leo Pleasance, who probably saved his side from total embarrassment.
Pleasance took control after Braunton had been reduced to 83 for six by B&P’s veteran all-rounder Jamie Sutton (4-33).
Pleasance scored an unbeaten 113 from just 72 balls. He dispatched 19 fours and a six, and shared a 123-run partnership with Daniel Briers (43), to reach a team total of 229 for seven.
Barnstaple & Pilton reached their target in the 39th over for the loss of six wickets. Opener Colin Simpson hit a belligerent 82. He was backed up by 46 from Martin Brown and 29 not out from Jake Freer who was there at the end with young Zach Newman (15no).
Jerrin James (2-38), was the best Braunton bowler.
