Tolchards DWCL 2025 Round Up | Week 9

Rain swept across Devon last weekend, forcing some games to be abandoned. But with teams battling for the top spots, every point counts, and there's still everything to play for.

Division One

North Devon hosted Plymouth in a key title showdown, with both sides battling for top spot. Plymouth won the toss and chose to field, but North Devon got off to a strong start with Flora Cobin (48*) and Annie Townsend (27*). Unfortunately, rain cut the game short after just 18 overs. Despite the abandonment, North Devon edged one point ahead of Plymouth to stay at the top of the table.

Paignton hosted Taunton Deane, winning the toss and sending the visitors in to bat. Taunton struggled to build momentum, with Pippa Stephens (14) and Lois Thornton (12) top scoring as they finished on 65-9 from their 30 overs. Ellie Bishop was the standout with the ball, claiming a brilliant five-wicket haul (7-6-4-5). In reply, Paignton lost Lauren Perkin (20) to Amelie Keal, but Hollie Perkin’s unbeaten 40* saw them home comfortably within 20 overs. The result marks Taunton Deane’s seventh loss of the season.

Division Two

Hatherleigh travelled to Exmouth hoping to secure points to strengthen their title push. Exmouth won the toss and chose to field, with Chloe Rose leading Hatherleigh’s effort with 27 before falling to Lucy Humphreys. Jessica Dennis and Hester Presswell added 14 each, as the visitors posted 105 all out, with Exmouth’s Jasmyne Watson picking up 3 wickets. In reply, Exmouth chased down the target with ease. Lucy Humphreys anchored the innings with an unbeaten 42*, supported by Sasha Gerrick (21) and Sharon Dawkins (18), sealing a comfortable win. Despite the defeat, Hatherleigh remain top of the table.

Bovey Tracey were set to host Plympton, but a waterlogged pitch meant the match was abandoned without a ball being bowled.

Division Three

Clyst St George hosted Bradninch & Kentisbeare this weekend. Clyst St George won the toss and elected to field first. The hosts got off to a solid start, restricting Bradninich to 57 for 5 off 16 overs. However, rain swept in, forcing the match to be abandoned.

Holsworthy travelled to Chagford, where the hosts won the toss and opted to bowl first. Grace Lewis put on a stellar performance, taking 6 wickets in just 4 overs to dismiss Holsworthy for 48 in 14 overs. Chagford lost two early wickets in the chase, but A Moore’s unbeaten 20* guided them to victory within 8 overs.

Chagford's Grace Lewis, 6-2 against Holsworthy.

Next week, the Super8s return for the final round of group stage matches, with everything to play for as teams battle for a spot on Finals Day!
