Blights North Devon League review – Moore 'ruins' game against Hatherleigh with rapid 68 not out | Three wickets each for Hughes (pictured) and Evans

Jools Hughes – three wickets for North Devon in the win over Hatherleigh

NORTH Devon defeated visiting Hatherleigh by seven wickets in the only game played in the Blights North Devon League.

Both teams – free from relegation worries in Division One – used the game to blood some of their younger players.

Hatherleigh skipper Adam Quick won the toss and elected to bat. North Devon's quickly reduced Hatherleigh to 27 for three. Opening bowlers Jools Hughes (3-23) and Dylan Evans (3-28) did the damage.

Kirt Forgham (36) led a mini-recovery from Hatherleigh. Once he fell to Issie Ollis, it was left to Harry Sibcy (41) to shepherd the tail to an all-out score of 178  in 34.3 overs.

Nic Ollis and Henry Polhill both took a wicket. Jack Moore confirmed that his all-rounder status does not extend to off-spin! Extras top scored with 46

The chase was all over in 20 overs. North Devon opener Nav Vandebona set the tone by scoring 41 off 20 balls. When Vandebona and fellow opener Polhill were both out with the score on 50, Hatherleigh were in with a chance.

Dismissing Alex Brookes in the 13th over proved a mixed blessing. Moore entered the fray and, as captain James Tyson remarked, ‘he ruined the match as a contest’.

More clattered 68 not out from 26 balls faced, six of which went for six and six more for four. Evans made 35 not out more sedately!

Aiden Spinney, Jonathan Wood, and Martin Quick took a wicket each for Hatherleigh.
