STOKE Gabriel have added two overseas players to their senior squad for the season ahead.
Tyler Hunter, a top-order bat and quick bowler who plays for Langwarrin in Melbourne’s Eastern Suburbs, will be the first team’s overseas player.
Justin Pringle, the South African all-rounder who has been assisting Stoke Gabriel since 2023, remains in the first-team dressing room.
Mitch Trewin, who bowls off-spin and bats, is coming over from Langwarrin with Hunter. His primary role will be with the second team.
Pringle – who has a league and cup batting average of more than 50, plus 59 wickets at less than 19 runs each – is no longer covered by the. One overseas player rule. That means he and Hunter can play in the same side.
Will Culver and Aaron Stevenson who joined the first-team squad towards the end of last season are effectively two more new faces.
Ollie Brown, formerly with Lewdown, has moved to the area and signed-on. He made 114 not out against Babbacombe 2nd XI last season.
There have been no significant departures.
Stoke Gabriel won the Corinthian Cup last season by defeating Budleigh Salterton in a thrilling last-over finish to the final at Cornwood. They finished sixth out of 10 in the Tolchards DCL B Division.
Jack Tolley, the Stoke captain, has set his sights higher than sixth in 2026.
“We are aiming to push towards the right end of the division this year, taking it game by game and looking to take more responsibility individually and as a team,” said Tolley
“We are aiming for better availability, consistency in our team and more effective training sessions, starting throughout this winter.”
