PREMIER DIVISION PROSPECTS – WEEK EIGHT
Exeter v Bradninch (3rd) & Kentisbeare (5th_
Exeter (Jon Lewis-Oliver): We’re really excited to welcome back Charles Clist this weekend. A stalwart at the top of the Exeter batting order for years, he’ll bring some valuable experience to the side.
Bradninch (Gary Chappell): Strong availability this week across the club. Ethan Brenton away and Theo Lamey playing for the England U19s development team, which is a great opportunity for him. Mitch Pugh back and Alex Brooks comes in as an extra batting and bowling option. Exeter have some top players and we'll need to be at our best.
Sandford (6th) v Tavistock (9th)
Sandford (Adam Small); One change this weekend. Ben Chaloner unavailable and Ryan Glass available so a nice swap. Boys are in good spirits are last week’s win and looking to continue with that momentum. Looks like it’s going to be a ‘pearler’ of a day so can’t wait to get out there.
Tavistock (Sean Cleave): Will Scott-Munden, Billy Barriball and Shaun Daymond come back into the side as we look to add more depth to our batting line-up. The lads are still full of confidence and enjoying the challenge of premier cricket. So I am hopeful a win is just around the corner. Excited to get Harry Witcher to the club (from Plymouth). He is a local lad and we can’t wait to see him out on the pitch. We say goodbye and good luck to Matt Petherbridge, who has returned to Saltash.
Paignton (2nd) v Exmouth (top)
Paignton (Harry Ward): Team news is Cole Harford comes in. Good win last week over Tavistock. Boys are looking forward to being back at QP, the table sets the importance of the game, however we will just focus on the process that have got us into this position. If we can do them well it’ll put us into a good position to win a game of cricket. Exmouth obviously a quality side and firing at the moment so expecting a good game of cricket, followed by a few beers with a good bunch of blokes.
Exmouth (James Horler): Jack Dart back in, Finlay marks out. Ollie Dawe returns to the 1st XI. Some more frustrating injury news as unfortunately Noah Musikanth has fractured his collar bone and will likely be out for season. Always a good clash with Paignton, they’ve got some quality players and have been going well this season. Fingers crossed for 20 points and an England win!
Hatherleigh (8th) v Cornwood (4th)
Hatherleigh (Rob Cockwill): Rob Fishleigh in for injured Ruben Forrester, Gareth Tidball and Ryan Quick also back in the side. Cornwood will be a tough test as an established Premier side, they have some dangerous players that are capable of match-winning performances. Going into the game with a positive mind frame, if we perform to our levels it will be a good opportunity for a win at home. I believe Mrs Lake is on tea duty this week, so we are looking forward to some delicious pasties.
Cornwood (Matt Skeemer): Myself and Elliott Staddon away from last week’s team. Chance for people to get more opportunity with the bat and hopefully they take it.
Plymouth (7th) v Sidmouth (10th)
Plymouth (Teddy Haffenden): Dan Goodey returns to the side. Last week's performance was really positive si if we cankeep doing that then we will put ourselves in good positions to win games.
Sidmouth (Taylor Ingham-Hill): Matt Matravers back in with the gloves this week for James Docherty. Looking forward to playing in front of the ever-supportive Plymouth home crowd and building some momentum for the second half of the season.
