Around the wickets in the A Division: Drew aiming to generate momentum for Heathcoat | Moore looking for ‘Complete’ performance
AROUND THE WICKETS IN THE A DIVISION
Budleigh Salterton (5th) v Ivybridge (4th)
Budleigh (Ed Doble): Only the one change this week with Jack England away and Harvey Shipton coming back in to the team.
Ivybridge (Adam Huxtable): Couple of changes for us this week. In come Josh Zimmerman and Farzad Safi. Tom Worth and Arthur Johnson miss out. Farzad has been going very well in the twos so deserves the chance. We need to put last weekend (lost to Heathcoat) behind us and go back to what we have been doing well this season. We had a really good game against Budleigh at their place last season so we are looking forward to Saturday.
Heathcoat (3rd) v North Devon (top)
Heathcoat (Jamie Drew): Finn Stoneman and Tom Hatton are unavailable. Glad to have Dylan Penberthy back this week along with Will Bucknell. Hoping to build on the positive performance last week (Ivybridge) against one of the best teams in the division.
North Devon (Jack Moore): Vanderbona, Wild and McEndoo out. Ansell, Whittaker and Atkinson in. We are still chasing a more complete game so hopefully this week can be the start of that. Heathcoat are always a dangerous side and looks like they've hit some form with a good group of youngsters ... looking forward to the news of the old guard reversing retirement for one week!
Bovey Tracey (9th) v Bridestowe & Belstone (6th)
Bridestowe (Tallan Burns): Another week of numerous changes due to unavailability. Phil Woods comes in to open the batting, Patrick Ewen takes the gloves and Noah Metherell earns a well-deserved promotion from the 2nd XI. Looking to bounce back from the disappointment of last weekend’s batting performance against Kilmington.
Bovey Tracey (Seb Ansley): This week two changes to face Bridestowe. Lewis Hammett released for another week to take the gloves offer advice to friend and foe from behind the stumps as Reuben Stanley is out. Pete Bradley enjoyed his fish and chips so much at Westward Ho! that he's going back again this weekend with the 2nd XI. Ed Foreman comes in to replace him. We've had some good results against them before so maybe this will help turn our season round. However, fully aware of the danger Shaq Glasgow presents.
Kilmington (8th) v Cullompton (7th)
Kilmington (Oli Reed): Unchanged from last week, which I don't recall happening for at least a couple of seasons! It's a big game given the league standings. Cullompton are a dangerous side, so we're expecting another tough test. The division feels very open this season, any team is capable of taking points off another.
Cullompton (Dan King): Important match for us against Kilmington. Looking to consolidate our position on the table and get back in the winners’ column. Harry Gillam is out (school commitments) and Ben Smith comes back after some success in the 2nd XOIs.
Torquay & K (2nd) v Thorverton (10th)
Torquay & Kingskerswell (Harry Passenger): James Tyler back in means we’re pretty much at full strength. We’ve had a lot of strange results, some our way, a lot not against the Thorverton lads in the past. The message is not to be complacent, they’re never a team to underestimate. But we go into the game with the confidence of the last however many weeks. [O]: Editor’s note. Torquay & Kingskerswell have only lost one game in the first eight weeks of the season.
Thorverton (Jake Choules): Just the one change this week with Brendan Coetzee in for Lihan Laubscher who has picked up an injury. Torquay are a different proposition this season after some strong recruitment. We don’t mind going in as underdogs and see it as an opportunity to show what we can do.
