Premier Division prospects – week 10: Tavistock skipper Cleave welcomes Barriball back (pictured) in quest for fresh start | B&K deal with availability issues
PREMIER DIVISION PROSPECTS – WEEK TEN
Tavistock (9th) v Bradninch & Kentisbeare (6th)
Bradninch & Kentisbeare (Gary Chappell): We're missing a lot of players this week for all sorts of reasons. Still finalising teams across the club but we'll be going to Tavistock looking to enjoy the day and get a win! A nice opportunity for some young players and guys who have done well in the 2nd XI to step up and test themselves at Premier level.
Tavistock (Sean Cleave): Charlie Barriball returns to the side this week, with Will Scott-Munden the only player to make way in our sole change. As we begin the second half of the season, it’s a chance for a fresh start, a reset, and an opportunity to kick on. We’ve shown plenty of encouraging signs throughout the first half, and we’re confident the positive results won’t be too far away. That will take a collective effort from everyone. I’m asking every player to give everything over these next nine games, and if we do that, we’ll give ourselves the best chance of achieving the goal we set at the start of the season.
Exmouth (2nd) v Cornwood (4th)
Exmouth: (James Horler): Fin Marks comes back in. Ollie Dawe and Matt Edworthy drop out. George Cave comes in as a batter to strengthen the lower-order firepower. Looking to bounce back from last week, but as a group, we’re still pleased with our efforts from the first half of the season. League is shaping up nicely with some good contenders, just focusing on taking 20 points each week, and we’ll worry about the table later on. Looking forward to hosting Cornwood, nice to have the rain not affect our game against them for once.
Cornwood (Matt Skeemer): Myself and Adam Goodliffe back in this week; Jason Hall and Harry Woolaway swap out. Expecting a really big challenge with a few boys missing and them looking to bounce back after (Paignton) last week. I think their batting line-up is probably the strongest in the division and the deck will be flat. No real pressure on us and these can sometimes be the best games to win. 
Sandford (5th) v Plymouth (8th)
Sandford (Adam Small): Couple of changes this week, Praison Alais unavailable so in comes Ben Handley, other than that unchanged. Crediton RFC sponsoring the day and they’ll be in full flow. Really excited for the weekend and looking forward to getting under way with the second half of the season
Plymouth (Teddy Haffenden): Hemanshu and Sam Stein back into the side this week. We’re doing parts of the game really well at the moment, just need to put it all together and get results going our way.
Hatherleigh (7th) v Sidmouth (10th)
Sidmouth (Taylor Ingham-Hill): Matt Matravers out. Dan Powell in to keep. Bringing a lad in who hasn’t hit a ball for a good year so looking forward to see how he goes? Really excited to bring the momentum from a win last week away to what I’ve heard is the best tea in the league.
Hatherleigh (Rob Cockwill): Gareth Tidball and Charlie Presswell out. Sean Letheren and Greg Solkin in. It’s a big few weeks coming up for us, which could define our season.Coming off the back of an important win last week we go into the game full of confidence, and looking to make it back-to-back wins. And, of course, looking forward to another delicious Hatherleigh tea prepared by Mrs Cockwill.
Paignton (top) v Exeter (3rd)
Paignton (Harry Ward): Looking forward to playing at Queen’s Park again. Another big clash, however we just have to keep improving as group and keep raising our standards. We know Exeter are a good side with quality players so will have to be up for it. Neil Hancock comes in great to have him back); Cole Harford unavailable.
Exeter (Jon Lewis-Oliver): The crux of our team remains the same, but with a few changes due to availability. The inclusion of Will Price, Josh Pagest and Aaron Lawrence will provide extra depth to our batting. We look forward to taking on league leaders Paignton in another seaside fixture.
