B DIVISION BRIEFING – WEEK 10
Bovey Tracey II (6th) v Ashburton (10th)
Bovey Tracey (Dan Green): I am playing in the first team so Ed foreman is captain. Charlie Hill and Will Patterson are back.
Ashburton (Lloyd White): Jack Brown returns for the injured Nick Martin, who broke his ankle in the Braunton game. Half way gives a great chance to reflect. Ultimately, the pressure is off now. No side will still want to lose to us. Here to upset the apple cart on a few occasions! Starts Saturday.
Seaton (top) v Clyst St George (9th)
Seaton (Tim Doulton): One change for us this week sees Tristan Wakeley return to the side, and he’ll open the batting for the first time this season. Despite last week’s win over Plympton, there are still plenty of areas we want to build on, particularly with the ball. We became slightly lackadaisical during a 15–20 over spell, and we know Clyst St George have players capable of exploiting that and taking the game away from us if we allow them the opportunity.
Clyst St George (Par Singh): Inder Singh, Ollie Manning come back into the team after a week away! It’s great to have them both back! They’re pivotal to our attack. Hasn’t been the greatest first half for us. A few close matches which could have gone our way. Seaton are having a great season so far. But hoping to disrupt them this weekend with a much-needed win.
Braunton(7th) v Stoke Gabriel (2nd)
Braunton (Sam Reddick): One change this week as Jon Baglow is resting his quad in Tunisia. Luckily Dan Brierley is back. Slightly disappointed to find ourselves are the bottom end of the table at the half way stage once again. However, we have really played some excellent cricket, I have full faith in our squad that we can pull away from the drop if we continue to bat as well as we did last week. We will have to bowl and field well against a strong Stoke batting line up this weekend, who seem to regularly score 300. Really looking forward to this one.
Stoke Gabriel (Jack Tolley): Few changes for the trip to Braunton. Liam Mair has gone to France, Will culver is away and Mike Meech is moving house. Adriaan Maxwell, Kyle Lardner and Sam Cogger come into the side. We know what has been working for us, we are looking to keep winning and see where it takes us!
Plympton (4th) v Barton (8th)
Plympton (Harry Kandampully): Three changes for this week. Ben Banks, Tom Blay and Oli Goulder unavailable. Two really experienced players come in Alex Carr, Craig Donohue. Billy Pitman also steps up after impressing for the 2nd XI. Decent first half of the season. Need to kick on. Bowling has been decent. Batting in partnerships is something to work on in the second half of the season. Always a tough fixture against Barton, who will be really up for it. Need to match that intensity.
Barton (Steve Lewis): I am in for Tom Drake who is unavailable. Have to believe we can win any match and go for it. Positivity will be key.
Bideford (3rd) v Plymstock (5th)
Bideford (Jack Ford): We’re very happy with being third halfway through, still lots of work to do and we’re just going to try and keep enjoying our cricket, which is when we play best. All-rounder Marcus Bulled back in, and seamer Chris Luxton comes into the side also. Probably the best availability we’ve had throughout the whole club so far this season so promising signs. Plymstock is always a good game, they seem to be on a bit of a roll as well at the minute. Never an easy game when Robbie Cunningham is in the form he’s in currently with the bat.
Plymstock (Tom Mitch): Chris Davies and Mike Blackmore come in. Aim is to build on a couple big weeks of results. Bideford are a strong side and we’ve had plenty of good battles in the past so expecting no different on Saturday. Hoping for a successful second half of the season, there’s still a long way to go to hopefully get ourselves up the table.
