Blights NDL round-up: Presswell twins both score hundreds against North Devon | Sandford too strong for Bridestowe & Belstone

THE Presswell brothers put on a show for Hatherleigh in their 42-run win over North Devon in the Sandhills at Instow.

A fourth-wicket stand of 189 between the ton-up twins helped Hatherleigh rack-up a 40-over total if 269 for five. Charlie scored 106, Jasper ended-up 100 not out; both reached their centuries in the last over.

Freddie Bettiss was the only North Devon bowler to take more than one wicket.

Bettis opened the North Devon innings  and hit a breezy 54 before Jasper Presswell caught him behind whilst keeping wicket. He took off the gloves to have a bowl and claimed three for 42.Sandford's ton-up batter Andrew Fry

Charlie Presswell and Martin Quick had two wickets each as North Devon closed on 227 for eight. Definate Madwazi top scored with 62.

Sandford crushed Bridestowe & Belstone at  Creedy Park by 205 runs. Andy Fry set the tone, htting 101 off 48 balls before walking off. Fellow opener Joseph Saunders hit a more sedate 92, then Tom Maidment took 72 off 43 balls as Sandford amassed an impressive 355 for four 

Noah Metherell (3-41) took the bowling for Bridestowe & Belstone.

Bridestowe & Belstone struggled against the home side’s bowling attack. Will Hopkins was the bowling star, taking six for 10 off  7.1 overs, that helped to dismiss B&B for 150. Metherell (24) top scored.

Nomansland defeated Newton Tracey by three wickets in the Division Two match of the day between the top two.

Newton were all-out for 139 after being put in to bat. Bhavesh Patel opened with 63. Tail-ender Domi Moore was the only other batter to reach double figures. Thirty-one extras helped the cause. 

Henry Strong and William Hughes both claimed three wickets for Nomansland. Jacob and Greg Cole had two each.

Nomansland reached their target with 12 overs to go and three wickets in hand. 

Elliot Butterfield top scored with 36. Once he was out the Coles boys broke the back of the chase, despite the efforts of Dom Robson (3-53). His twin Connor had two, as did Billy Symons.

Matt NewtonElliot Coles made 33, skipper Greg had 22 and Jacob added 16.

Barnstaple & Pilton got instant revenge for a 17-run defeat by Victoria Park with an eight wicket win over them at Westward Ho!, to the delight of in-form captain Ali Poll.

Victoria Park were all out for 142. Dave Branch top scored with 26, closely followed by skipper Dave Stanton (25). Extras chipped-in with 23. 

Harry Tanton took three for 35 for B&P. Dom Chugg and Frankie Allen had two apiece. Three run-outs helped

Barnstaple & Pilton’s reply was dominated by a second-wicket partnership worth 112 between Jamie Sutton and Matt Newton. Sutton scored 41 and Newton ended up with 96 not out that saw his team home with over 10 overs in hand.

Opener Andy Keech scored a 105 for Lynton & Lynmouth in their 30-run win over Exford in the Valley of the Rocks. David Brierley made a half-century towards a team total of 248 for eight.

Bottom side Exford ran out of steam on 226 for nine. Mark Taylor (46), Oli Ahern (42) and James Griffiths (46) featured prominently with the bat. Harvey Jones took four for 23 for the winners.
