A huge thank you to University of Plymouth Cricket Club!
Wicketz Plymouth would like to say a heartfelt thank you to Plymouth University Cricket Club who hosted a University Quiz night to help raise funds for Wicketz. With thousands of young people in Plymouth living trapped below the poverty line, facing shocking levels of exclusion, hardship and poor health, the £180 raised will enable Wicketz Plymouth to reach out to more young people in the most deprived communities and provide vital support to improve their life prospects through cricket.
Andrew the Chairman of Plymouth University Cricket Club tells us why they decided to raise funds for Wicketz;
“Following a fantastic summer of international cricket, we feel it is important to carry that momentum and to try and get as many people in local areas involved in cricket. We fully support Wicketz principle of using cricket to engage with deprived 8-16-year-olds throughout the community so for us, this charity was the obvious choice for our donation.”
The club’s generosity towards Wicketz does not stop there, they provide enthusiastic volunteers week by week who are a real asset to our clubs. We are looking forward to continuing working with Plymouth University Cricket Club to help empower more young people through Wicketz.
